According to the King County website, there is a walk-in clinic for H1N1 shots at Walgreens on 35th today until 8pm. Has anyone been there? Do they have any left?

    I’d suggest calling.

Walgreen’s was horribly unorganized in their method of distribution. If you don’t have the ability to show up 2 hours before the clinic, and then stay all day hoping for a shot, then don’t bother.

That said, I got my shot on Monday night by appointment at Albertson’s/Sav-On in White Center. They were organized, efficient, and pleasant. In fact, I called 3 hours before my appointment and asked if I could by any chance come early as I’d gotten off work early. The response? “No problem at all, you just may have to wait a few extra minutes.” I would recommend calling to see if they have any appointments left. Their # is 206-243-4433, and you need to dial 0 to get to speak to a person.

I couldn’t have been any more pleased and impressed with them. Their customer service is absolutely outstanding, and worlds away from the mess at Walgreen’s.

I am so FRUSTRATED with the distribution of the vaccine. Even though the vaccine is currently available, it is not accessible to certain high risk age groups. I have a 7 month old and there is only ONE pharmacy in all of King county that are licensed to administer the vaccine to children under the age of 2. It is also “walk in only”. Which means you have to get there, with infant in tow HOURS before to stand in line in the rain… did I mention with an infant in tow???? This morning I woke up at 6:30, checked the website and already there were 150 people waiting in line for vaccines at 9. By 7 there were over 200 people waiting and the pharmacy was handing out tickets for the 12-3 time slot. What am I supposed to do? Drag my baby out at dawn to stand in the cold rain hoping we get the shot???

This is a MESS. Why isn’t the health department sending out qualified people who are licensed to administer to our little ones?

I’m sure I am in the same boat as many families with babies. We are coming up on Baby’s first Christmas and have travel plans to spend it with family… It would be nice if my son could at least have his first round so there is less of a risk of him getting sick far from home. It feels like the county is leaving one of its most vulnerable populations high and dry. Erg.

sorry big mark- I didn’t see this til today.

I saw on the King County website that they did have walk-in shots too. I called ahead, but the recording on the phone said they were out of flu shots.

On the way home from work, I stopped by anyway. They were there, no line, easy, filled out form and got a shot in less than 10 minutes. The guy said he hadn’t been super busy, but people were coming in all day.

they guy giving the shots was not from that Walgreen’s, exactly, as he told me he went to the wrong Walgreen’s in the morning and they sent him to the correct one.. so… I don’t know if he would be there again today if they had shots left over. do give them a call.

gambaru- it really IS A MESS if you have kids. that’s one of the reasons why we decided not to travel for Christmas this year. can’t get the 1 year old fully vaccinated. it is crazy that very young children weren’t prioritized for distribution considering they need 2 doses a month apart.

If anyone is a patient at Country Doctor Clinic on Capitol Hill, they are now taking appointments. It’s only for current high-risk patients, I’m sure. I called yesterday, got an appt. for tomorrow afternoon….easy…

I’ll second the great experience at WC Albertson’s. When I did call for the appt. (I just can’t entertain the walk-in line and would drive a little farther for the alternative), I only got a busy signal once. Friendly, organized, and kid got in and out quickly for the mist yesterday. I don’t see many on the KC site that are addressing the very young, so I’m at a loss as to what’s supposed to be happening there. :(
