I know that our closeness to Canada leads to a sharing of culture. I loved Stuart’s show and stories and am sorry to learn that he died today. In the two Christmas Shows I saw, the Paramount was packed with 4-year olds and 90+ year olds.

His stories helped me at times of my personal loss and also made me laugh. He was a good man and a great storyteller.

There is a good hour-long remembrance and obit at this link:

redblack: How do you relate fas-cism to conservatives when the most prolific example in history was under a left-ist national soc-ialist model? Thus, a neo-nazi is actually a left-ist.

How do you explain the founding of the KKK by Democrats? …And why membership in the KKK remained almost exclusively Democrats for over a century?

Wasn’t the Jim Crow laws initiated by the father of prog-gressive liberal-ism? …And were they not entirely enforced by the Democrat party all the way up to 1965?

Without going back to the Crusades, can you identify any actual conservative groups that use the constitution to start riots and advocate violence?

The left-right flavor of tyranny dynamic refers to the left side of the political spectrum. You should think of it as a circle instead of a strait line (actually more like a cartesian coordinate spherical graph, but that concept is for another time).

Edit: Who is your favorite conservative? My favorite Lib-eral is Rosa Koire. she is the author of the book “Behind the Green Mask”. She also runs a website called: DemocratsAgainstUNAgenda21.com You can find here talks on YouTube as well.

    anonyme..

i agree with you. too many people put their own needs above those of the pets they adopt… they don’t think it through or they make assumptions based on past experiences that turn out not to be true…

i created space and boundaries that would allow two four legged creatures that other people would have put down as public menaces to live in peace and harmony.. and within the confines of the space i created for them.. they did until one succumbed to cancer this last year… and the vet tells me it’s likely we will lose our little now blind boy this year or the next and the thought breaks my heart.

but.. knowing what i now know.. i am not so sure i would do it again. it was a lot to take on..

i thought i was a great dog trainer.. and i probably am… but i didn’t have the information i needed to rehab these dogs.. and i am not entirely sure anyone did… at least no-one we found could offer either training or medications that would “adjust” their basic issues. the best we could ever do for them was management.. which has meant isolating them.. and ourselves from others. Because of their particular issues.. no-one has been able to simply drop by my house to visit for over a decade … that’s not what we thought we signed on for.

i was experienced at rehabbing problem dogs.. including “problem breeds” that had been misused in dog fights. but i didn’t get enough information about the breed we chose or about the individual dogs we rescued and have spent the last decade and literally thousands of dollars a year in training, vet bills and structured containment to make it possible for us to live together.

My choice… once i took them into my heart there was literally nothing else i could have done.. but because i had these dogs.. when i have had surgeries.. i could not have in home assistance during my recovery. which was kind of ok until this last year when i got hit with back to back major surgeries… and that was difficult … especially since mochi was in the end stages of her cancer during the recovery from my colon cancer surgery and needed daily care and yuki was mourning the loss of his best friend and seeing eye dog during recovery from my second surgery.

we coped. i don’t know how. but we coped… but over a year later i am still not what one would call recovered. The sensible thing to do when i got so sick would have been to try to find any rescue organization that would take them. We didn’t do the sensible thing and my health has suffered as a result.

We were able to make that choice but not everyone has the resources that we had.. we have an incredible vet who boarded our pups at a cut rate until i could get out of bed with both surgeries.. at a time when first mochi and then yuki needed a whole lot of extra medical care and attention. I do not know what we would have done without her.

i still don’t know what we would do without her.

Yes .. our pets are forever members of our families.. but families face challenges they didn’t expect and sometimes they aren’t able to cope with those challenges in a way that supports everyone.

i don’t know what happened here… none of us do.. but it does sound like they at least made an attempt to find solutions before putting Barkley up for adoption… and they did place him where he will be well cared for and stands a good chance at adoption.

having been pushed to the brink of making those decisions.. i can understand.

JoB: Which facts do you believe are false? I have yet to see any real evidence that implicates the president in a pre-election scandal with the Russians. It seems like a lot of wishful thinking on the left. I would expect that both campaigns would have had communication with officials at various levels in most major countries–What law would prevent either campaign from contacting officials in foreign governments? There has to be more than just a contact to prove criminal activity.

What is your opinion about the financial assistance Hillary received from Saudi Arabia? or the pro-hillary hacking attempt by the Ukraine? (see: Politico “Ukrainian efforts to sabotage Trump backfire”).

    jan: let’s call a spade a spade.

black bloc are the extreme and sometimes violent left end of the political spectrum, just as the neo-nazis and white supremacists are the extreme and sometimes violent right end of the political spectrum. which is why black bloc didn’t attach itself to tea party rallies.

    anarchy: no government/self-government/communal local government.

    fascism: conservative all-powerful authoritarianism.

but there are right-wing anarchists. i’m sure there are also weirdo extreme left wing racists.

    they’re all batsh!t crazy.

all of this reminds me of my favorite recent meme:

not all trump supporters are racists, but all racists are trump supporters.

hey, Dave, honey…you’re drinking that water, too…

oh, and how long have you lived here? Those “black shirts” are called anarchists. They don’t give a damn about your ideology, my ideology, anyone’s ideology. They wait for something peaceful, and insert themselves into it, creating the havoc they love to create. Of course, you’ll argue about that. It’s a librul conspiracy and fake news, I’m sure. In the meantime, Kelly is gone, and the reports are now that there are many more in Dolt45’s White House gang that had conversations with Russian during his campaign…you know, the illegal stuff. But you keep deflecting, it’s what you do.

Honestly, Dave, I think you’d be much happier in Idaho…lily white, conservative, trump worshippers, alt-right, nationalist (oops, did I forget white supremacist?).They love Breitbart and more in some places over there, I hear, and multiculturalism is probably a dirty word. There’s got to be at least one body of water where you can drop that boat, and the cost of living is probably cheaper, too.Less mentally unstable liberals, too. Maybe even better drinking water. Great place to raise a conservative family, I’ve heard. Did I mention all the conservative white people?

redblack: It isn’t us conservatives who are feeling like we have been marginalized. (Seattle is both the most left and most depressed city in the US). We the non-lefties are very happy to see the crumbling demise of socialism around the world. Even you have to recognize that the sphere of influence that the lib-eral prog-ressive movement has enjoyed for so long is now in decline. Maybe Seattle can hold out a little longer that other places, but the ideology is failing to inspire the next generation who gets the short end of the stick. The writing is on the wall if you only look beyond your feeding trough.

“…but liberals are stopping the truth from getting to them. that’s really what you think, isn’t it?” Yes. My proof is what happened on Nov 8th. The news has not yet reached Seattle residents.

mark47n: If you were to drink from the faucet at my house and then go around West Seattle and drink from other faucets, do you call that hydration diversity when all the water is coming from the same source in the Cascades? Your media sources all have the same thing in common. Follow the money. With that said, I think your news sources do a pretty good job covering natural disasters and other non-politicized events–of course, everything becomes distilled into political fodder after a while.

“..I’d like to see enacted are policies that work in the rest of the 1st world developed nations…” What countries? Sweden?–where the UN has projected that they will become a third word nation by 2030.

“I’m going to tell you the same thing I’m told by your ilk; if you don’t like it live somewhere else.” –Is this really the kind of diversity you support? I thought lib-erals believed everyone should have a voice? If 8% of Seattle is conservative and you think they should leave, does that mean you believe other groups should leave as well? Your rule seems to nullify the voices of minority groups. On the other hand, your party fights for special LGBT rights when they only represent 4.6% of the population, and special rights for Muslims when they are only 0.65% of the population. –is that only because they want bigger government and more taxation? Will you tell other minority groups to leave if they oppose your personal views? How do you keep your brain from exploding, or do you not have one?

blbl…good for you that you can read into the future. I’m sure the Millers took all of that into consideration when they got Barkley years before they had a child. One can only assume that they thought that it would work, just as it has for many, many families before them. But it didn’t, and now they’re trying to find the best solution. After all, they could simply take him to the pound and abandon him. That’s not what they’re doing. You think they should be forced to keep their beloved dog, who is becoming more and more anxious? What the hell kind of life would that be for this beautiful animal? Or maybe they should simply give up their child because, after all, the dog was there first, and oh, my, heaven forbid a dog might not get along with said child?
“A special place in hell”? Are you effing serious? Your damned righteous indignation for people you do not know is disgusting. Besides acting holier than thou, blbl, what’s your solution to the present problem. We don’t need to hear more about how perfect your life is and how you run it better than others…just solutions.

I, too, hope Barkley finds the family that can dote on him in his senior years. And Millers? My apologies for the rude, uncalled for name calling, and opinions of some people in this community….their horse seems mighty high right now. I hope you don’t take it to heart. Good luck.

Who am I, birdrescuer? I’m a responsible adult who has wanted a dog for over twenty years, but since I also want kids, travel and work a lot, I have decided it’s not fair to get a dog. It would just be cruel to do what M Miller is doing, so I made a tough choice before it came to that.

Unfortunately only one was arrested (had a needle on him). The other that entered the vehicle was let loose because he claimed he was just getting a ride. The other two around the vehicle didn’t have IDs and weren’t suspects for stealing the vehicle. The man that was arrested was booked, processed, and released before we even got a tow-truck to take the vehicle away.

The police officer insisted on waiting with us until we got the tow because he thought that if he left, the man that was arrested for being in the vehicle (and presumably the one who stole it) would come and plead with us to get his belongings (mostly stolen) out of the vehicle. The officer said that if we both left, the car would be re-taken by the guy and moved somewhere else (it was drivable) hard to find.

Apparently the Mayor, the City Council, and the City Attorney have no interest in penalties for these crimes, so if they are arrested they’re released shortly thereafter and offend again.

EDIT: One tip that the officer recommended was installing a kill-switch in any older vehicle that uses a traditional key (rather than a remote-fob).

Bibi you will be there first. Who are you to judge another person. Shame on you.

    From above
it’s a toddler, plus the dog’s taking anxiety meds to try and make it work. seems like people here on WSB are just making assumptions. The dog doesn’t seem to be ‘thrown away’ or ‘cast off’ if they’ve tried to make it work for a couple of years.

We too often hear about the transgressions of the SPD but don’t often thank them when they do their job.

Last weekend my brother’s 4Runner was stolen from right in front of my house in North Admiral. After we called the police, Officer Keating showed up within 5 minutes and took a report. He informed us of process and we left feeling listened to and like the police cared. We weren’t exactly hopeful the vehicle would be recovered.

Last night, we got a call that the vehicle had been found–down on S. Portland and 8th Ave S with two guys in it and two guys around it. It was full to the brim with laptops, saws, boots, etc. The interior door panels were ripped off and the thing was trashed.

When we showed up, Officer A. Constantin was there to inform us of the situation and share our options. He couldn’t have been a more positive face for the SPD. He patiently answered questions, shared insights, and was the friendly police officer we all like to encounter. Makes me confident we have the right people out there doing necessary police work.

well, if you guys would bring some actual “intellectual diversity” instead of alternative reality it would bolster your argument. then maybe you wouldn’t feel so alone and marginalized here.

what? you think if people in seattle really really really heard what breitbart is telling them. they’d see things your way? you talk as if there’s this body of non-political people out there just waiting to be rolled into the ranks of the burgeoning seattle conservative movement. but liberals are stopping the truth from getting to them. that’s really what you think, isn’t it?

you need an enemy. your enemy defines you.

meanwhile, back on earth… you know how many people attended the 2016 34th district GOP caucuses? i do.

    30.

there’s your conservative movement in the 34th district. even if 300 attended, it would still be dwarfed by the democratic caucuses.

don’t get me wrong. i want people to hear what you guys have to say. just be intellectually honest. don’t spread bullsh!t and tell us it’s fertilizer.

then again, you guys are scared that kshama sawant is just the tip of the iceburg and that we’ll all be wearing government-made shoes or something.

williamf64: There is something in the Seattle water system that causes logic to be in short supply. People move here from all over the country (including from places with immense intellectual diversity) only to be indoctrinated into some kind of cultish belief where everyone must be equalized, marginalized and homogenized–except for skin color of course! …And the crazy thing is, they know that this is impossible–so they scurry around trying to create diversity through multiculturalism. That way, if everyone speaks a different language (but always votes lib-eral), we will all get along merrily in a collective utopia that can only be guided by our endowed social masters. I think most of the lib-erals here mean well. They just don’t have much common sense.

redblack: “let’s be clear: you’re calling anti-nazis the brownshirts.” Absolutely. The real “fasc-ists” are the ones calling others “fasc-ists” while dressing up in black uniforms. Who are the ones smashing windows, looting, burning cars, stamping out free speech and punching people that disagree with them? Should I call them black shirts instead? You really need to study more than just MSN. On youtube, you can find a lot of personal video evidence from riot victims around the US and world who will show you that your narrative is wrong.

At what point does the “fantasy Social-ist movement” become reality in your mind? When Kshama Sawant runs for Mayer, Governor or President?

I have read many of Knute Berger’s articles. He just seems like an old-school marxist pitching the party line for his aging comrades. Under normal circumstances, his rhetoric isn’t bothersome when people have easy access to all points of view. But that is not the case anymore in Seattle, is it? Then again, how would you know if you are not seeing the necessity for intellectual diversity?

I truly wanted to support a local company besides the convenience. I gave up on them over a year ago after getting refill notices only to go there & they were short or out of stock. The Physician – Pharmacy interface was always screwed up with multiple calls to straighten things out (the SAME prescription of over a decade). With my travels for my employment, they became too unreliable.

“antifa IS the fas-cist brownshirts of the global soci-alist movement.”

what are you smoking, dave? can i have some? i have money.

you didn’t even know what antifa is until buzzfeed irked some dark net neo-nazis last week. so you’re scared all of a sudden? or what? of what?!

let’s be clear: you’re calling anti-nazis the brownshirts.

    of a fantasy socialist movement.

well, it’s on the record now. that’s something, i guess.

as for the rest of your post, i feel badly for you that you don’t understand or willfully ignore what soft old leftish knute berger has to say.

i’ll freely admit that he needs a full-time proof/copy person. other than that, he ain’t hatching any bolshevik plots.

    Hello,

I had a fantastic landscape designer for the past two years, but she is no longer in the area so I’m on the hunt for a new provider. Here’s what I’m looking for:

    1) Landscape design. It’s been 4-5 years since I completed a major redesign of the yard and it’s time to remove a number of plants as well as add to the plants already here. In particular, there are few sections of the yard that could use more pops of color and variety. I’d like a landscape designer to come out and help me come up with a plan to revitalize parts of the yard.

    2) Regular maintenance. I’d also like to get on someone’s regular maintenance schedule if possible.

I’m looking for someone with a good design aesthetic who is not afraid of color. Any recommendations that you can provide would be much appreciated. Thank you!
