I got no problem not riding in Schmitz park. I also don’t mind being called out civily although it can be humbling.

But just take down those stupid stop signs on the roundabouts.

She needs to study the issue for 14 months.

I really don’t understand the bridge funding issue. There are already tolls. Tolls are automated. Make the bridges toll and drop the the car registration fees as a compromise. 110,000 trips on the high bridge is not chump change.

Our favs: West Seattle Animal Hospital for good care and weekend hours; Canine Casa was really kind about trimming our nervous pup’s nails and I’ve heard great recs for their grooming. We don’t go to dog parks, but early morning walks are gorgeous and quiet down on Alki. There are many discussions and opinions on Nextdoor, if you haven’t joined it.
Congrats on getting your best buddy!

Welcome to West Seattle. Yes, one of the commonly known rules among us locals is that bikes aren’t allowed in Schmitz Park. We like it that way, since it keeps the already muddy trails from getting too rutty and wide. The rule is posted. Look around, you’ll find the signs.

So check your privilege, and stop being such a self-made victim.

Well, this being Seattle maybe it is a bit surprising they got called out that directly. After all, wouldn’t one normally not even look the offender in the eye, and certainly not say anything to them (and then of course rush home to angrily complain on the local blog!)?

Hello fellow West Seattleites! Soon I will be adopting my first dog (I have lived with and been around them my whole life, “first” on my own) and I am looking for some good resources in WS.

Does anyone have recommendations for vets, groomers, trainers, doggy day care, dog-friendly parks etc.? Anything specific to the Admiral area is great, but I am open to traveling around the area to get better care/service.

Thanks in advanced, and hopefully I’ll meet some fellow dog lovers when my future Fido and I are out for walks!

Sorry to hear that the couple was “aggressive” in their educating. I wonder if they volunteer in the preservation of the park. The reason why bikes are not allowed in Schmitz Preserve Park is because its a preserve and as you mentioned in your post, it’s an “old growth” urban park, one of the last in the country. I’ve noticed that the city recently reposted no bikes on trails signs.

I’m looking for a quiet apartment near the junction. Seems like most apartment buildings in West Seattle are new construction mid-rises, where you can hear your neighbor’s toaster pop.

Anyone have a recommendation for a building with decent sound insulation (or know anyone who is renting a house). My budget is ~$3000, thanks all!
