KenParticipantSprint has been the worst for customer service, at all levels for ever. Believe it or not, the last CEO actually fired several people for not mentioning customer service at all in his first staff meeting so the shoddy service you are getting now is actually an improvement.
I used to negotiate inter-lada highspeed circuits with them and they don’t even have any hesitation about screwing over high dollar corporate accounts and voiding signed contracts.
The techs at sprint LD are union and very competent but the CS are apparently abused by the suits so badly they are bitter and resentful every time they are forced to interact with customers.
I have been happy with cingular/AT&T Family plan cell service here in WS for about 7 years now and they were accommodating last time I had to negotiate a number transfer. (At least they were after I demonstrated my knowledge of their corporate hierarchy and how to file complaints that would make their day a little more irritating than doing what I asked.)
YMMV

charlabobParticipantThis is what we’ve come to, with the encouragement of the Fox spin machine and the bozos who’ve run the country for the past 8 years: we can dismiss diplomacy as “Sitting down and having a chat.”
Nope, that’s not what it is. Colin Powell certainly knew better and I suspect Condi Rice does, though you wouldn’t know it from what she says.
I hope at least some of the electorate does, as well. I know the folks here do :-)

beachdrivegirlParticipantI think both Clinton and Obama realize we can not just pull the troops out and we will all move on without a beat. However, they have to appeal to a wide range of individuals and not all of these individuals are educated so not every one of them understands that pulling out of the war is a loooong process. Secondly, maybe is it wrong that Michele Obama isnt proud of her country but you know what i am not either. When I graduated from college two years ago I traveled for 8 weeks in Australia and 3 weeks in Europe…after my first week in Australia (right after Bush got elected for his second term) I realized something the world thought we were stupid! For my sanity and possible my safety i had to put a Canadian patch on my backpack so i could find people to be social with. So, yes I was not proud of our country at that time; however, since that time have tried to find ways to become proud and move past it.
March 14, 2008 at 4:51 am #617142beachdrivegirlParticipantThe thing that the Republican party does lack is passion. I have not heard one person be passionate about any Republican canidate and as much as all of us Democrats bicker now I believe we all see a brighter tomorrow and will make sure someone far far away from the Republican party gets nominated so we can.

WSMomParticipantNewResident: Have you read the book “Three Cups of Tea”? I have a copy I would love to give to you (if you’re interested I could bring it on Sunday).
“Three Cups of Tea is one of the most remarkable adventure stories of our time. Greg Mortenson’s dangerous and difficult quest to build schools in the wildest parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan is not only a thrilling read, it’s proof that one ordinary person, with the right combination of character and determination, really can change the world.†-Tom Brokaw
This book does a wonderful job of illustrating one way we can win the war on terror without killing anyone.
March 14, 2008 at 2:03 am #618887In reply to: More Cell Phone Questions/Trauma
CMPParticipantMy only advice for buying a cell phone is to buy them directly from T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, etc…
Never buy from a licensed dealer such as Radio Shack (or those kiosks you see at the malls)b/c you probably won’t get the best customer service. I’m not sure what to do about the credit issue, but I think that T-Mobile is good about accomodating those with less than perfect credit ratings. It’s unfortunate that you have to deal with that, but maybe pre-paid is the way to go for now until it improves. Good luck and I hope you find a plan that suits your needs with good customer service!

JoBParticipantnew resident..
there is nowhere to point that finger than at George W Bush…
he did not pursue Al Quaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan where they could actually be found…
Remember, Al Quadea (not Iraq) attacked us…
He invaded Iraq on the flimsiest intelligence around for reasons that had nothing to do with AlQuada.
that’s what happens when you ask for your people to support your opinions instead of asking them for unbiased info… you get crap!
but it sure supports your opinions…
sorry.. i like you.. but this is why it is so important to democrats to elect one of their own… now. Before the next round starts and we find ourselves in Iran for the same “good” reasons.
My hubby is sure we are well on our way now with the last resignation … and i fear he is right.
Invading Iran won’t fight terrorists either.. at least not those that attacked us…
but heck.. if you call them terrorists, you can attack anyone. right?
March 14, 2008 at 1:07 am #618367In reply to: McCain ?????
JoBParticipantnew resident.. i fear for your blood pressure…
who are “these people”.. because unless i have missed something really important.. . and i doubt that i have… those who actually live in the middle east are as concerned about the terrorists killing their own people as we are.
and that’s who we would be talking with.
we imposed our agenda there… without asking them what they wanted. And i am talking about their governments.. not the terrorists in their midsts.
i wonder why i am still repeating this.. but there were no terrorists in Iraq under Saddam. he didn’t allow any competition. we opened the door and invited them in with our aggression.
we are not good guests. And we aren’t good guests now…
our military are for the most part really good people who are trying to do the best for the Iraqi citizens caught in this crossfire.. but it is a crossfire… and not of their making.
George W Bush put American soldiers in harms way.. and all he created was another never-ending battlefield… 4,000 and counting…
we are less safe from terrorists now than we were then because we have been expending money, effort and american lives trying to re stabilize a country that we destabilized.
You have been watching fox news too long… that stuff will rot your brain.
terrorists aren’t just killing americans you know.. (or maybe you didn’t).
the governments of the middle east have just as much reason to want this conflict resolved and the terrorists gone as we do… in fact, they have far more reason than we do. Talking with them just might be a start.
March 14, 2008 at 12:54 am #618366In reply to: McCain ?????
AnonymousInactiveAnd as far as why didn’t we sit these terrorist down and talk instead of going to war, it’s very easy to blame Bush and start hollering that he just wanted to toss bombs around. Unless you were there when all this was decided, you have no idea what other options were looked at. Obviously, those other options were not very good ones. Look where we are.
But don’t just point your finger and start blaming Republicans for our country being at war. If there was another way, I’m sure we would have done that.
But I can tell you, sitting down for a nice little chat is not and never was an option.
March 14, 2008 at 12:47 am #617139AnonymousInactiveJoB – I hear you and no insult taken. It will definitely get interesting in the months to come, especially when you have a candidate and the attention turns to the Republicans.
Not sure I’m looking forward to it.
March 14, 2008 at 12:39 am #618364In reply to: McCain ?????
WSMomParticipantSo bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran (or “terrorist”) is the answer? If we dehumanize a human being by labeling them a terrorist, refuse to “talk” with them or even acknowledge their humanity, assume they HATE and want to kill us, the eventuality is to, I suppose, KILL or imprison them. Then we’re no better than the Nazi’s.
March 14, 2008 at 12:35 am #617137JoBParticipanti just followed that link back and i thought that something good had happened.. that they had pulled their links.. but they didn’t.. they just buried it further.. if you get to the “shocking video Obama doesn’t want you to see” you will find them in the links…
in between there are now just a whole lot more videos about his church.. and they didn’t have to invent a lot… his pastor gives them plenty of soundbites…
having grown up in a pentacostal church.. and having participated in some of the civil rights movement myself… and ending up in the middle of it’s ugly aftermath… i am not so shocked by what is said by him.. but i think there are a lot of people who will be unsettled by his words…
this isn’t even round one.. it’s just prefight advertising… setting the stage for what they want America to think… just in case Obama is our candidate…
if you are an obama supporter.. you really should go take a look. and not because the hillary hag is setting you up but because you need a clear picture of what is yet to come… whether he ends up with the nomination or not.
March 14, 2008 at 12:30 am #617136AnonymousInactiveWith all of this going on between Obama and Clinton, there won’t be much left for the Republican party to do. By the time ONE of the two Dems gets the nomination, we are going to already know all the dirt. Has anyone stopped to think that this is really bad for the Democratic party as a whole?
March 14, 2008 at 12:22 am #617135JoBParticipantvillagegreen.
that’s a nice story… and you stick with it. It’s all that mean old Hillary who just won’t find herself a nice exit strategy…
LOL.. why should she exit until she’s beaten?
his saying it’s so.. doesn’t make it so…
on his high road clean campaign which hasn’t been so high or so clean… starting with his mail attacks on hillary…
or his supposed victory.. which isn’t yet…
or his ignoring the 3 AM add when they definately put out one themselves in response…
or…
mean old Hillary isn’t stealing anything.
it’s a campaign gang..
i feel like a broken record… but the guy is a politician.. and if he isn’t… you shouldn’t be supporting him…
best look at the real enemy because FOX news just lobbed a real stink bomb out today… and if you think people aren’t going to be following the links to the filth.. you’re mistaken.
Here is the link that someone else posted earlier and i actually followed.. you should too so you have some idea what you are up against.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=hAYe7MT5BxM
I think it is pretty appalling… since following FOX links takes you right to some links they can disavow…
and i imagine someone is going to “break” that nasty story because they will be afraid of being scooped…
I don’t know how to explain to you that we aren’t the real enemy.. and maybe you should focus your attention on what your candidate does right instead of what you think mine does wrong. You are going to need all the help you can get once the real campaigning starts.
March 13, 2008 at 11:32 pm #586556Topic: What kind of mop do you use?
in forum WSB Reader RecommendationsAnonymousInactiveI am looking for a really good mop. I have one of those Swifter wetjets. It seems to just push dirt around without picking anything up. Do you have a mop that you love? If so, could you recommend it? I don’t need the brand name if you don’t know it, maybe just explain what it looks like.
I know this seems silly, but I’m really sick of getting on my hands and knees and picking up dirt that I have just spent an hour pushing around!!!
March 13, 2008 at 11:03 pm #617134villagegreenMemberOf course the Obama campaign is pouncing on Ferraro’s comments and bringing them to the attention of the media. They tried taking the high road in Texas by ignoring the significance of the 3AM ad and that strategy failed. One thing modern day politics has proven is that once things go negative and you start getting attacked, the only viable option is to fight back.
Hillary chose to go negative. Her campaign was on the verge of dissintegrating and instead of staying positive – which would have guaranteed herself a smooth exit, dignity intact (as it did Edwards) – she chose the attack your opponent with everything but the kitchen sink approach. And it worked. So she’s definitely not gonna stop now. Ferraro resigning so she can save her dignity by fighting back is laughable. She’s resigned so she can continue making divisive statements that will no doubt work to Clinton’s advatage by appealing to a certain pathetic portion of the electorate.
Obama supporters aren’t claiming that his campaign isn’t above a little manipulation of events to his advantage. What we’re upset about is that Hillary has brought things to that level. You gotta play your opponents game or you’ll be left playing by yourself. Look what happended to John Kerry.

AnonymousInactiveBDG – In response to your link, please refer to that article in the Wall Street Journal titled “Obama on Offense”. Michelle Obama’s idea for national defense is to “change the conversation” instead of “protecting ourselves against terrorism”.
That’s pretty scary.
I think when it comes to national security and we have to choose between one extreme or the other, I would definitely choose McCain.
March 13, 2008 at 10:23 pm #617132JoBParticipantvillagegreen..
if hillary was a man there would have been no need for the crying episodes to prove to america that she was a caring woman.
were they contrived?.. i don’t know. but once she found out that they worked.. i am sure she made less effort to completely contain her emotions.
If hillary was a man.. she wouldn’t have had the complications of Bill.
If Hillary was a man she would have either succeeded or failed on her own political merits decades ago.
She isn’t a man. It’s one of the things i like about her.. i have never hidden that.
I don’t think the competitive style of men is viable in today’s political and economic climate. i am hoping her more collaborative style would actually create some real change.
Just as i am sure one of the things a lot of people like about Barak is that he isn’t a woman. i think that is one of the major reasons he is doing so well with white men.. of all ages…
And a lot of them probably like that he is black. Don’t dismiss all of those middle aged people who actually fought for civil rights.. even if it wasn’t their color.
Do i think he gets a kick from all of that. Yup…
I don’t mind that he does.
what i mind is his campaign and supporters acting like they aren’t manipulating that like crazy to their own benefit. That’s hypocrisy.
March 13, 2008 at 10:11 pm #617131JoBParticipantandrea..
i knew about the pastor.. just had chosen not to bring it up. Regardless of what Kayleigh thinks.. i would simply never go there… but i knew sooner or later it would come out…
It’s why i say you can’t be black on one day and refuse to let anyone else acknowledge it on another…
It’s why Obama has been getting pressed about Farrakon lately.. it isn’t just the endorsement from Farrakon, but the endorsement from his church for Farrakon that is a problem.
Hillary won’t mention it because she doesn’t want to alienate the black vote but it is going to come out sooner or later.
However.. that video is more insidious in it’s links.
i just followed it from there to a fox commentary on just how his connections to that particular pastor might be viewed if he were white… to some far more disturbing.
Are the more disturbing ones true? i certainly hope not.
But this is just an opening salvo.
And this salvo has nothing to do with the democratic party or hillary.
there is no teflon…
those who think they have seen dirty tricks had better get ready for a real mudslide.

March 13, 2008 at 8:36 pm #617126villagegreenMemberIt goes without saying that some people will vote for Obama because he is black, Clinton because she is a woman, Obama because his opponent is a woman, or Clinton because her opponent is black.
It’s pointless to fight over whether sexism or racism is a more influential factor.
Ferraro probably isn’t a racist, but her comments are remarkedly stupid for such an accomplished woman. She said the exact same thing about Jesse Jackson’s campaign, so she definitely had an agenda when saying it. To think she didn’t is very naive.
It seems clear to me that she’s trying to imply that Obama is benefiting from some sort of electoral affirmative action. She’s attempting to make voters think of Barack Obama as a “quota” rather than a serious candidate who has earned his way, while simultaneously claiming that Hillary is not winning because of sexism. Not very smart.
And if you think Clinton hasn’t benefited from sexism you’re delusional as well. Ask yourselfs this, if Hillary was a man would she still be in the race after her crying episodes?
