This doesn’t make sense at all.
So, this was all started by a Crazed racist Lunatic that had finally ” HAD IT” with People of Color moving into the well known White’s Only neighborhood of Pigeon Hill which happens to be either in or directly next to White Center. ? That doesn’t even make the slightest bit of sense at all ?
Does anyone that read that letter believe that this out of control Foaming at the mouth Racist Lunatic that can barely control himself on his Microsoft word program is only NOW in 2016 realizing that his neighborhood has a Large amount of People of Color living in it ?
The Pigeon Hill & White Center area has always had a significantly Large Minority population but what has really pushed this sick lunatic over the edge was when this very nice single mom and her 2 wonderful children move into the neighborhood ?
Why did he pick Stephanie Endres out from all of the other People of color that have been in that neighborhood for generations ? Maybe her beautiful children were laughing too loud on there tricycles.
Did anyone else get this type of letter ? If so we certainly have not heard from them.
I just think it is strange that this true evil psychopath picks Ms. Endres out of the crowd. ?
Maybe this Sicko was not aware that Stephanie Endres is very brave & well known Liberal Activist that is willing to stand up to this Hatred and galvanize an entire community by organizing a Anti-Hatred and Tolerance ” Anti-Trump ” Rally to expose this Evil Racist’s Sickness. i am absolutely sure that this Sicko was also not aware that Ms. Endres of course will be more than happy to portray his Racism and Hatred as symptomatic of ALL Trump Supporters. This just may backfire on this Wacko.

I am sure that i will be called a Hater because I questioned the validity of this Letter but we will see if I am right or not.
Let us all see if this ” Hate Free Delridge Gathering ” is inclusive and tolerant of all ideas and points of view or if this is just another Liberal ” Hate Trump ” and all that support him Rally ?

I believe it is the responsibility of protest organizers to have a security detail alert and ready to shut down any provocateurs or crazies trying to promote violent behavior within the demonstration. That’s important to keep the message clear and to protect peaceful protesters from harm by the idiots or by police to who may react to isolated provocations more broadly than warranted. That’s based on my experience in the 60’s and of course now there are many more firearms in circulation so it may be more challenging to maintain control.

I think the topic of what professional athletes are doing with their demonstrations during the national anthem to encourage a discussion about injustice should be kept separate from discussions about Keith Scott and the Charlotte demonstrations. If the latter continues would someone start a new thread?

Meanwhile, I very much appreciate how Richard Sherman moved to further the message intended by the national anthem protests. I hope the players continue to incrementally press the issue. I noticed an article about how viewership has been low in the games following the protests and asserting they are the cause for the fall-off. Maybe, maybe not, but even that suggestion help further the discussion about the tolerance Americans have for racial injustice.

Charlotte. Two dead – one by a black police officer, the other by a rioter. I don’t say protestor. Once it escalates to looting and arson, it’s no longer a legal protest. All of this without results from the investigation.

after the happenings in the last few days in Charlotte, and Pastor Crutcher, etc, etc…I really don’t know about anyone else, but I am becoming more and more enlightened …as a white woman…why Mr. Kaepernick is doing what he’s doing, and why it’s spreading. I do not want to hear anything about disrespecting the flag or vets…that happens every day by more than black people, I assure you. I cannot comprehend being a black person who must be afraid of their very life for as little as having a tail light out, or your car breaking down…or police verbalizing ” he looks like one bad dude” just because he is black and isn’t 5’3″ tall. I am sadly becoming more and more disgusted by the comments of our lovely white privileged people , the ignorance…of many of their comments. Here, we thought we had come very far in this country, when in reality, we haven’t even come close.

Today the Mariners suspended backup catcher Steve Clevengerbecause he tweeted offensively on a private account. Apparently Clev’s idea of private includes news people, and they took screenshots. I won’t quote the tweets in a nice place like this. They’re rude, and borderline illiterate, but we’ve all heard woree. Ballclubs have the right to dump someone, but they routinely tolerate much more serious misconduct,

Kaepernick is just another ignorant Fool of privilege educated by the America Hating Liberal education machine and their is No finer example of that than when he wore his ” Fidel Castro ” shirt the other day.

    I mean … That was Beautiful !
He was trying to make a statement about oppression and then puts on a T-shirt supporting a Murderous Thug ” Castro ” that has Executed whole families and imprisoned an entire nation for half a Century. Yes, that ” Castro ” or as some US Citizens that were fortunate enough to escape there own country refer to as Central America’s version of ” Stalin “. But, nobody can be surprised of Kaepernick’s Ignorance when our Very patriotic President OBama is seen chumming around with Fidel Castro’s Murderous Gangster brother ” Raul ” at a baseball game.

Of course we ALL remember where we were when Obama was smiling having a great time at the Cuban Baseball game with the Murderous Raul because of all the Protests ? Oh wait.. there weren’t any. Nobody Cared !

Imagine what would have happened at that very Baseball game in Cuba if one of the Cuban players decided to embarrass the Cuban Dictator by kneeling down during the Cuban national Anthem ?

I think that the Castro’s since they were such Huge fans of Stalin would use the O’L ” Knock on the door ” technique that Stalin and his henchmen perfected with Kaepernick and his family.

    — ” What ever happened to the Kaepernick’s ?
    — I don’t know… Nobody has seen them since Colin Kneeled during the Anthem. We heard a loud knock on the door that night and ever since then nobody has seen them. ”

Since I got a few responses and a couple emails about this, I thought I’d let you all know that I have found a place to store the non-perishable items long term. I also kept her tags and other things for preserving her memory. I think it sounded in my post as if I was giving away ALL of her stuff, but I had planned to keep some things to remember her by. Don’t Worry! Now I’ve found a way to keep even more. The food is in my truck to be donated next time I’m near the food bank too. Thanks for all the responses!

As a pedestrian crossing in a crosswalk with a signal, I had an auto driver yell at me,”If you had better shoes you would walk faster!”. He was tired of waiting for me to cross so he could turn. I was 2 weeks post-op a total knee replacement and had just started walking without my crutches…

city-owned bike rental is not a bad idea, but pronto is definitely located in the worst conceivable area. a good bike share program in seattle would be located near bike highways and connect neighborhoods like ballard/fremont/U district. the best places for cycling hubs would be interbay and west marginal, or some other place near busses and interurban trails.

downtown? no way. people don’t walk or drive sensibly there, and there are way too many of them. you gotta be brave, defensive, hyper-aware, and in pretty good shape to ride a bike in downtown seattle.

Hello Folks: My wife and I just moved to West Seattle from Minneapolis. We are really happy about the neighborhood.

I’m wondering about the availability of a garage or work space to rent? Ideally it would be big enough to keep a few bikes (maybe a small raft and/or wet fishing waders) and have some work space for light wood working or bike maintenance and some painting.

We rented a lovely duplex, but it doesn’t have a garage and I’m missing that sort of flexible storage/work space.

Thanks for any leads. I’m new to town, so if not a garage, then please point me towards some other spaces along these lines I might not have found yet.

Thank you, KatherineL. It certainly does feel empty around here now. It was just a few days ago that I was yelling at her for waking me up at 5am with loud meowing, and now I just wish I could hear her meow again. Cleaning up and giving away her items is especially difficult but it would seem like such a waste to throw it away.
I understand and totally agree with your suggestion about not making decisions when grieving, however, this was a decision we came to a while back as we knew her time was short since she was 17 years old. We decided we would not get any new pets until our daughter is old enough to participate in choosing and caring for the new pet. The real possibility now is breaking down on that decision because we miss our dear old friend. Thanks very much for your concern.

On Friday at Edmunds and California, some kooky woman was yelling abuse at passersby. A sampling: “All those who are not from West Seattle get the f— out now!”

It was — startling, to say the least. A woman on the street yelled, “Hey, watch your language!” To which ranting car lady responded, “F– off, you…pretty nerd!” which we thought was a completely hilarious non-insult.

Anyway: really, folks? Neighborhoods change and more people patronizing businesses is a GOOD thing. Chill out and take it down 5,000 notches.

PS Pretty Nerd is now added to my lexicon.

Just a heads up that my car was prowled last night/early this morning. It appears that it was unlocked but I doubt that. Glove box and center console were rifled through. As far as i can tell, the only things missing are prescription sunglasses, prescription glasses and my unused America The Beautiful National Park pass. These things are not likely worth $100 but replacement cost is close to $700.

I’ll describe the glasses in case someone finds them – they aren’t worth anything to someone who doesn’t have my prescription

Sunglasses have a blue frame and are brown lens. They were in a grey cloth bag. In the bag was also a black cord to keep them on my head while kayaking.
The regular glasses were black framed, sort of half frames and narrow. THese were in a copper colored hard case. Please keep a look out as they may just be tossed. Thanks!

And a word of caution – be sure to fill out any park pass you have. i hadn’t started using it yet so mine was blank. Learn that lesson once.

And they can. With only two compliance officers for the entire city, I can’t see officers making a trip to West Seattle very often. But that information is confusing and frustrating; I was under the impression that more officers had been added, specifically for Lincoln Park? Was it all smoke and mirrors?

A few days ago, I spoke with the supervisor at the Seattle Animal Shelter who is in charge of compliance/enforcement. Our conversation was helpful and enlightening, and I appreciate his taking the time to discuss the concerns of so many of us. Here are a few takeaways:

    1. Every call you make to the Animal Shelter re an off-leash dog in our parks, they generate a patrol call. So, your call does count! Put this on your speed dial: 206-386-7387.
    2. Responders (who also patrol our parks – and there are only TWO for all our parks!) have to go out in pairs. This is because of safety concerns and to manage multiple violators at the same time.
    4. Funding – and allocations of funds – is an issue.
    5. Of course, situations like injured animals, cruelty to animals, menacing animals and so on, get higher priority.
    ——————————————–

By the way, though the WSB has already posted the info, here’s a reminder that Seattle Parks & Recreation will be holding the “Dogs and Parks” meeting Sept. 22, starting at 6:30 PM, at the Miller Community Center, 330 19th Ave E. If you have the time, I hope you can attend.

I can’t emphasize enough that most or even all of us who are concerned about off-leash dogs are dog-lovers. Many of us own and cherish our four-legged friends. People who flout the ordinance are, for the most part, not ignorant of the rules. They just feel entitled, and think that they can get away with it.
