Hello West Seattle! After much consideration, I have decided it’s time for a change of neighborhoods. The West Seattle bridge back and functioning makes this an easier decision. I am not in a rush, Sept/Oct move-in would work great.

Seattle native, I have lived in the Ballard/Crownhill neighborhood for the past 30+ years. I have owned 2 different homes and for the last 10 years I have been a renter, I am very responsible and respectful of others’ property.

I am also a local small business owner for over 24 years, very responsible, a good communicator, solid credit score, and am very financially responsible. I am a senior (young 65) and a nonsmoker of anything, nothing more than a beer on occasion but rare to be honest.

What I am hoping to find is a rental close to the North Admiral neighborhood so I can live a bit closer to my wonderful best friend and girlfriend of 9 years.

I have never lived in an apartment and really would prefer to find a detached ADU/MIL or affordable small home.
One bedroom is fine, the use of some garage space would be really appreciated. I am open of course to a townhouse or condo if it is somewhat peaceful.

Here are my hopeful top tens
*$2000 ish or less base rent
    *Clean, easy-access home, secure space
*enough room in the house for a Peloton exercise bicycle
    *spot for outdoor grill
*big enough bedroom for King size bed
    *some garage space
    *washer/dryer/dishwasher in the house
    *Close to 800+ sq feet
*Some fenced yard space, willing to maintain
*Ability to have my senior part-time dog (under 20lbs) sleep over once or twice a week. Sometimes I may need to dog sit for up to 2 weeks at a time.
    *good water pressure
*off street parking for mid-sized SUV

    My no list would be
    *no shared space
    *no big party neighbors
    *not on busy main streets

Please let me know if you have or know of a great new home for me. I look forward to joining the West Seattle community

My son found a leather “Puerto Rico” wallet with a debit card and a small bit of cash on the Lafayette playground this weekend. We checked in with the school this morning and she is not a student at Lafayette. The name on the card is Mya Elliott. We’d love to get it back to her if anyone knows her.

This post is going to be in 2 parts – Part1 is the story as I write down this fresh memory, and Part2 is questions about pet law and “attack” law.

    Part1 – Story
    _
I’m still so surprised. I was walking my dog on 39th off of Thistle, beautiful day, delightful walk. I see a pair of cats in a yard with an open chainlink fence, so we angle out toward the street to give them plenty of space. Then suddenly, one of the cats attacks the other then turns and charges out of its yard through the gate and attacks my dog. While my dog cries a horrible cry I’ve never heard before I try to pull her away and in to the street to get away but the cat starts charging again. I stomped my foot to try to scare it away and it hesitates and hisses. Moments later we’ve run to the other side of the street and I’m looking my dog over to make sure she’s ok. My dog is under 30lbs and is afraid of everything. She just looks so sad and confused, blood on her nose. I hope she doesnt develop reactivity to other animals as a result of this.
The across the street neighbors have now come out of their house after hearing my dogs cries and ask if everything is alright. I was worried they would think my dog started something but they knew the scoop already. They tell me that this particular cat has been charging and attacking dogs for some time now. They’ve seen it time and time again and try to warn people to stay away from this house.

    Part2 – What Next?
    _
So many things had to go wrong for this to happen. Is this cat getting old and losing its mind? It attacked its friend and then us, it was clearly over threshold. Why are the cats left outside and stationed near the gate? Why is the chainlink gate left all the way open? Why are these cats still allowed outside after repeated attacks of passerbys?

Can anyone educate me on cat pet laws? If the attacker were a dog instead of a cat, this would be a problem that most people would agree needs a solution – Like making sure the pet has a space, maybe in the backyard, where it can feel safe and calm. But because the attacker is a cat, I’m not sure how to approach this. Is the owner legally obligated to keep an aggressive cat inside their property? Should this cat be on some kind of animal control record? I apologize if these questions sound harsh but I’m really unclear on what’s the right thing to do here.

    Thanks

Take the C Line from the Alaska Junction, get off at 3rd and Seneca Street in downtown, Walk one block north to the entrance to the transit tunnel, in the Beneroya Hall building, at 3rd and University. Take the train toward Angle Lake (airport). At the airport, walk through the parking garage to the terminal.

The 50 bus also would get you there from the junction, but transfer to the train in SODO is outside.

I have one hummingbird feeder that I have kept clean and filled for several years. I have never seen more than one hummingbird at at time on it, because they are very territorial. The last few weeks, though, I have noticed two things that I don’t understand. First, more than one hummingbird will peacefully drink at the same time. Second, they are drinking so fast! Usually I refill once a week, and now I’m refilling almost daily.

Is this the season where other species migrate through? If so, why didn’t I notice it any other year? Why do the territorial local birds allow the passersby to drink from their prized spot? Is anyone else noticing this change?

    Thanks so much!

    Hello there,

I’m seeking advice from those with experience on the best way to travel from the Junction area to Seatac using public transportation. I’ll only have a backpack with me, so transferring between different modes of transport should be easy. I’ve tried using the trip planner, but the results are confusing to me. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
