Saw that city crew as well but they were clearing/cleaning along Admiral Way quite a bit closer to the street than where this slash pruning was done. Driving uphill slow down around the flashing speed limit sign and look up that slope. That carnage was not done by the city. For a good reference and to see the worst of it look for 2742 – 36th. Just an unacceptable, unlawful attempt at opening the view for that new or remodeled home.

Has anyone reported the illegal pruning by the residents on 36th Ave SW along the east facing slope of the steep hillside above Admiral Way. Terrible, messy and certainly non-permitted for the ECA slope and all the debris just left in a jumbled mess. This cannot be allowed to continue!

Also in North Admiral there’s been another swath of heavy, destructive pruning and tree falling on Bonair Street. Looks like this might be a city project but trying to clarify.

I’m experiencing this as well. Because I’ve dealt with this all over the country, I have an app on my phone called Spectroid that shows frequency peaks—at least where I am, it’s registering as a 70 Hz hum/buzz sound. Someone mentioned it could be CalPortland and the industrial mega vacuum that they use, or something to that effect. Whatever it is it’s causing a bit of insomnia for me and I’m not happy about it… I’m going to give noise canceling sleep earbuds a try and see how that goes.

I also try to be honest about my choices and recognize that my choices are part of the problem — every time I drive in a car or bus I am contributing to climate change. Every time I drive in a car I create road congestion that slows other people down and wastes their time. But that doesn’t mean I can’t applaud and encourage initiatives that give more people an ability to make sustainable transportation choices. That doesn’t mean I’m anti-car. Cars are useful tools and will remain part of our transportation system for decades. But we need a better solution than what we’ve got now. We need to prioritize sustainable transportation like transit, bicycling, and walking so that people have more tools to get around without a car.

I haven’t seen a mention of the West Seattle ‘Hum’ here for quite awhile but I believe it is back! We live next to Madison Middle School and are hearing the pulsating hum all day long – it’s driving us crazy. Is anyone else hearing this?

It became more noticeable about 4 weeks ago.

For those that haven’t experienced this, it’s best described as a low frequency sound that occurs in a very slow pulsating pattern. Aka ‘the hum’.

Question is then: Who decides what “frivolous use” is? Is it the commenters on the blog who call out car use but have slipped up and told the truth that they have cars? Is it the city who lets developers build with no off-street parking because they’re just sure the people moving in won’t have or will sell their car? I’ve seen what happens: side street suddenly fill up with cars. Is it the city who closes off streets, narrows lanes etc.in the hope that making driving more difficult people will sell their cars? Hasn’t worked. While you’re right it’s not 1950 anymore and alternate transportation methods should be enhanced and promoted the recognition needs to be made that what’s been done to get people to not drive has not worked.

Job Summary:
This is a physical job designed for true dog lovers. You will be walking independently and tasked with keeping clients’ pets safe and following any instructions provided by the client. Ideal routes are normally within one neighborhood, but you will need to travel to multiple households during the day and provide your own transportation.

We place great emphasis on safety, customer service, and self-reliance. Most walkers work an equivalent of 10-30 hours a week, but you can take on as many or as few service requests or clients as you choose. Responsibilities and Duties:
• Provide loving care to our clients cats and small critters.
• Follow the care instructions laid out by clients. This means being able to read and understand instructions given and execute what was asked.
• Care for cats includes refreshing water and food dishes, scooping litter boxes, sweeping up around litter boxes, cleaning up messes (ex hairballs), administering medications, playing with cats and/or proving love. This job requires frequent bending and kneeling.
• Monitor the well being of kitties and report any behavioral or physical changes.
• Administer medication if required.
• Complete visit reports at the end of every visit which requires excellent written skills.

I don’t honk when I drive by a group of Boeing workers on strike, rather I think go back to work and take the offer! Do you know how many people would give anything to get the pay increases you are being offered? No other workers receive anything near that. Plus you get great benefits! You lost your pension benefit 10 years ago and it is never coming back. Grow up, save and invest the great pay you are being offered and go back to work. Standing there with your signs, saying no to these great offers is a slap in the face to every person driving by on their way to their jobs where most likely they will be paid less.

I stand by my comment, which is based on education – not anecdotes. Topping is not only ugly, it directly affects the health of trees. The growth that does come back consists mostly of water sprouts, which are weak and susceptible to damage and disease. This must be a very extensive property, or on a very steep slope, that the tops of trees on the same lot obstruct the view.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for in an applicant

16 years of age or older, 18 or older is preferred.
1-2 years’ experience with children; camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying.
Ability to model and demonstrate Y values: caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.
Experience planning and implementing group activities.
TB Test by Mantoux method.*
Completion of minimum STARS required training, CPR/First Aid Training*
Cleared Portable Background Check in the statewide registry MERIT.**
