I am looking to sell a stackable Maytag front-loading washer and high efficiency dryer. They were both purchased in March 2019 and were only used through September 2021. They have been in storage since and are still in amazing condition.

Both appliances still fall under Maytag’s 10-Year Limited Parts Warranty and a Lowe’s 5-Year Protection Plan that was purchased at the same time.

The appliances come complete with hookup hoses (hot, cold, and drainage), the electric dryer power cord, original manuals and installation guides, and the Lowe’s warranty documents (original receipt and plan information pamphlet).

    The washer is a…

The 34th district has two great candidates for State Rep to choose from. Both are smart, progressive women who will bring fresh energy to a seat Eileen Cody held for more than 27 years. But there’s a difference between them that I haven’t seen discussed in any editorial or endorsement.

Griffin and Alvarado occupy different policy niches, both informed by their personal and occupational histories. Griffin focuses on her outsider experience of working with local and national leaders to create policy and pass legislation. Alvarado emphasizes her history working within city bureaucracy to move the policy needle. To me, the policy areas matter less than the passion, energy, focus, and people skills each candidate brings to the table. Subject matter expertise can be learned.

Here’s the big differentiator no one is talking about: If elected, Griffin plans to resign her library job and devote herself full time to representing the 34th District. Alvarado plans to continue in her job as the vice president of a national non-profit organization. When I asked her about splitting her focus, she stated that she’d probably drop down to a .7 FTE but, as primary financial supporter of her family, she wasn’t going to leave her job. It’s not hard to see why: state reps earn a salary of $56,881 plus $120/day per diem during session.

In my volunteer work, I track policy development during state legislative sessions. Reps and staff work 15-hour days and it’s a sprint from the starting blocks to the 11th hour vote on the last day of session. It’s the development work that happens during the rest of the year that is key to starting the session with well-researched, well-supported policies that can survive the committee negotiations and floor votes to emerge as laws or budget priorities. I want a state rep who is fully focused on representing our district year-round. (I want reps recognized and paid a living wage for that full-time work as well, but that’s a different argument.)

Their progressive priorities and ability to gain deep subject matter expertise on any issue are not differentiators in this race. Passion, energy, and focus are. That’s why I support Leah Griffin for 34th District State Representative, Position 1.

I’ve only lived near the Alaska Junction for a little over a year now, but I’ve noticed a major increase in sirens lately. I know living down the street from a firehouse invites a certain level of noise pollution, but lately, it’s sounded like the whole of West Seattle is crumbling. I can’t even sleep some nights because of the sirens blaring every other hour, and the loud-engine-assholes gunning it down the street in between. Has anyone else noticed an increase in fire/police activity over the past couple of months? Is there any reason for the increased emergency activity? I know I can’t blame them for just doing their jobs and trying to save lives, but sometimes it gets to the point that I just want to scream for them to turn off the damn sirens.

Relatively new to Seattle… and I’m looking for a carpool buddy to accompany me to ongoing PNW concerts and music festivals (example, at the Gorge or TMobile). I will furnish the tickets, which are usually backstage/VIP. You don’t have to hang out with me the entire time, but we’ll agree to arrive and depart together. If you are interested, let’s first meet for coffee in West Seattle. One person per event, making us 2 people total. No groups or extra guests, sorry. Ideal for all genders/orientations, folks in their late 30s, 40s or early-50s who own a reliable car, are safe/sober drivers, and enjoy music but dislike waiting in line. I, myself am a female. I will also be posting this in the Community forum to see where it fits best.

Good grief aa, perhaps you should read the OP’s question more closely.

I too am curious about the Verizon 5G, but I understand it’s satellite, like your phone, correct? Rather than a direct line to your house. So depending on where you are, might be more prone to disruption. Would love to hear some someone that has it – it’s such a hassle to switch I haven’t been willing to make the leap.

Seriously? You actually think there are so many finish carpenters looking for work you will be too overwhelmed to respond back to them all? I am loathe to tell you how to operate your business but if someone took a few minutes to respond to my ad I figure I can take a few seconds to send them back a form letter “sorry but sorry, we will keep your information on file if anything opens up in the future” kind of thing. If you don’t have a decent HR program, get one, it makes correspondence super easy, and professional.

PS. I am sending this to Ventana as well, it’s not an anonymous rant

Hello, my name is Birgit. Have you found someone yet to help your father?
I am female, 57 yeqrs old, live on Morgan Junction. I was born and raised in Germany and came to the Seattle in 1994. My background is in Personal Service, i.e. I have worked for/with several individuals who had various degrees of requirements, needs, expectations and wishes. This is a very personal and adaptable area to work in.

Is your father still driving himself?

I currently volunteer at the West Seattle Senior Center which I hope your father might be visiting. They are providing wonderful services.

I used to live on the island of Martha’s Vineyard where I cooked meals for the elderly.

I can provide several references here from Seattle and various ones from Martha’s Vineyard.
I want to make it clear that I am not a medical caregiver, nurse or similar. Companion, Household Help, “Girl Friday”, Personal Chef is probably the closest job description. I am about to set up my business again, so currently I would be able to cover these shifts you mentioned.

I am vaccinated with two Pfizer shots, I do not smoke or drink, I possess a valid driver license but currently have sold my car and plan to be earth sensitive and get around by bike and bus.

It would be lovely to talk to you even if you already found someone. I be happy to share my knowledge and maybe can offer some avdise re the senior services offered by the City of Seattle.
    They are marvelous.

You can reach me anytime at 206-557-9681, pls leave reference WEST SEATTLE BLOG on my voice mail in case I am not available. Feel free to call between 8am – 9pm any day.

    Look forward talking to you.

Stay cool in this Sweltering heat, I hope your dad has A/C or a cool basement. :-)

To whoever is feeding crows slices of bread in the Genessee area, please stop.
They bring them to my bird bath to soak and soften them.
The bath gets mucked up because of this. It is happening daily. I have to clean daily
Crows are the smartest birds around. They do not need help finding food.

Yesterday while shopping at QFC, I noticed their security guard open carrying with 2 additional magazines clipped to his belt.

At first I was scared, he wasn’t clearly marked as a QFC employee, making me think he was posing as a security guard to stage a mass shooting in the store. After all, what legitimate security guard needs to carry 30 rounds?

An employee confirmed that this is a security guard hired by QFC. So my question is- what prompted such ridiculous measures?

Is this QFC’s policy, or is this security guard taking his job a little to seriously- deciding to go ‘above and beyond’? Perhaps scarier- did someone at QFC management foresee a situation where their security guard would need to fire 30 rounds in their store? What must have happened in our neighborhood to prompt this?

The only reason why a security guard should shoot even one bullet in a store would be to stop a mass shooter- but by the looks of it, this guy is going to perpetrate a mass shooting before he prevents one.

I would be curious to know if other QFC shoppers feel safer knowing that the security guard could shoot 30 people at any moment.

I wanted to chime in and second the suggestion from ‘CAP.’ While I’m sure a well-intended suggestion, taking the C line downtown as ‘Seriously?’ suggested is the least efficient of your three main options from the Junction. If opposed to the short walk from Bay 1 to Bay 4 at Westwood Village, another option is taking the 50 eastbound from the Junction to Sodo Station and taking the light rail from there.
