Someone clipped my 2002 subaru outback and partially tore the front bumper off. It’s still attached on one side, but hanging over the headlight on the other side. Someone suggested I ziptie it on to get it to a body shop. I don’t need a perfect job done, just need to be able to drive it. Any recommendations for a reasonable body shop, or very handy people who might have an idea how to jury rig this? I’m off of 35th by the West Seattle Library…..thanks.

All correct. However, concerning #4 the city has said- verbally that if there are no other vehicles- or bicycles at or approaching the circle it’s fine to turn to the left of the circle.

Just trying to verify that I am following the rules of the road. I have seen people make contradicting comments here in the blog.

For traffic circles (rules of the road) is this correct?

    1. Traffic circles are considered “circular intersections.”
    RCW 46.04.118

    2. Follow any STOP or YIELD signs at the circle.
    RCW 46.61.190

    3. If the circle has no control signs:

The first vehicle to arrive goes first.
    RCW 46.61.180

If two vehicles arrive at the same time, the vehicle on the right has the right-of-way; the vehicle on the left yields.
    RCW 46.61.180

    4. Always drive to the right of the circle (counter-clockwise around the island).
    RCW 46.61.135

If you happen to find several emergency/first aid supplies dumped, my truck was broken into last night. Hopefully the person uses the supplies (emergency blanket, narcan, alcohol wipes, tweezers, individually wrapped OTC medicines, child’s bandaid tin, EpiPen, liquid Benadryl, etc).

If it’s dumped and you find it, would you please comment and I’ll reach out. I’ll replace everything in a couple days anyway. I can’t be out and about with a kiddo without first aid supplies.

Also if you are missing a large castle shaped cake tin, it was left in my truck.

PLEASE educate your walkers on the laws. Yes there really are laws. Most every morning I see a dog walker drive up and park on Alki. He proceeds to let his 3 to 5 dogs out, take their leashes off and let them run off leash on the bench sand.

Are you available Monday through Friday, 10am-2pm, and looking for a part-time job that you love? Do you stop people walking by to ask to pet their dog? Do you have previous dog-walking experience? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, come work with us as a professional dog walker!

TO APPLY: Complete an application at https://closetohomeseattle.com/careers/application-form/

    Overview:

Close to Home Pet Services is an LGBTQAI-owned and operated company. We connect customers with our animal-obsessed team to provide their pets with unique, individual care. We have been providing individual dog walks and cat visits in Seattle since 2008. We’re currently looking to hire a responsible animal lover to join our professional team!

Together we create a safe, fun, healthy environment for our internal team, our animal/pet clients, our human clients, and our Community. We are making the difference together.

Dog Walking Route Details: We have immediate openings for WEST SEATTLE Weekday dog walkers. These positions work well for someone looking for part-time work, 2-5 hours a day. Candidates must be available Monday through Friday, from roughly 10am-2pm.

All Close to Home Dog clients are human-friendly and vetted for staff. All walks are private leashed walks in their neighborhood. Some dog walks are more than one dog if they live together.

***We are hiring hourly from $21/hr.***

    Job Summary:

This is a physical job designed for true dog lovers. You will be walking independently and tasked with keeping clients’ pets safe and following any instructions provided by the client. Ideal routes are normally within one neighborhood, but you will need to travel to multiple households during the day and provide your own transportation.

We place great emphasis on safety, customer service, and self-reliance. Most walkers work an equivalent of 10-30 hours a week and find the flexibility that our company provides to be an ideal way to stay independent and balance other jobs, clients, or school with the freedom of self-employment.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Perform safe neighborhood walks on leash as directed by the client
    • Time management and communication to accept/deny service requests
    • Communicate with the office and clients within our select software platforms (we will train you on this!)
    • Provide excellent customer service
    • Give all dogs attention, exercise, and care

    Who You Are:

    • You are honest, driven, self-motivated, and independent
    • You have a smartphone with a data plan
    • You are at least 21 years old
    • You own a reliable source of transportation
    • You enjoy spending the day outdoors in all types of weather
    • You are legally authorized to work in the United States
    • You are willing to submit to a background check
    • You have another form of income to help supplement this position

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of dog breeds and behavior can be helpful but not required
    • The ability to make quick decisions to keep dogs and yourself safe
    • Capable of walking more than one dog at a time
    • Comfortable walking dogs with special medical or behavior concerns
    • Time management skills to ensure on-time arrivals for all dog walks
    • Experience communicating with others via Slack

    Benefits and Perks:

    • Highly competitive industry pay
    • Paid Onboarding and Comprehensive Training
    • Casual dress code (dress for the weather instead of wearing a uniform)
    • Work within a fun environment that encourages learning with positive/animal-loving co-workers
    • Work at a company that respects you as an individual and creates healthy boundaries

What our team says about the company:

‘Close To Home has been an amazing place for me after leaving a high-stress job. Being outside, exercising, and connecting with animals is the perfect antidote for career burnout and has helped tremendously with my depression and anxiety. Plus, the miles I’m walking have conditioned me enough so I can do all the hikes that seemed out of reach previously.’

Hello fellow West Seattlelites! I really could use some help because I lost my wallet today. It’s a slim card case with my ID with an address in Renton (old address) and a few credit cards. My contact information is in a couple of business cards inside the wallet.

Possibly dropped it at the Home Depot on Delridge, either on the parking lot or inside the store. If you come across it I’d appreciate reaching out, I’ll buy you a case of your favorite drink or three course meal at a local eatery. Thank you!!!

This is directed at the minivan driver who is too stupid to understand how a roundabout works and hit me with your car at the intersection of 40th and Genesee tonight.

I am hereby challenging you to a duel to the death. I think people like you are a blight on this nation. However unlike you I am not a coward who simply keeps driving after turning left at a roundabout and nearly killing someone. I will meet you face to face and fight you with honor and dignity.

If you accept, please reply and I will send you armament details and location.

If you refuse my challenge, I hope the rest of your days are riddled with misery.

I know every neighborhood has this problem, but this is for the Arbor Heights area. There are a few people that live in this neighborhood that don’t pick up after their dogs. It’s not that they forgot the bag, they are just lazy worthless piles of crap, like what they leave behind.
It’s illegal, it’s a $54 fine and if your dog isn’t licensed and up to date on their shots, then the fine keeps increasing.
If you see somebody purposefully leaving their dog crap in the area and you know where they live you can report them to Animal Control. Take a picture and report their address or license plate. Sick of selfish worthless people and personally cleaning up after your dogs because you are too lazy to do so. You don’t deserve a pet. . .
