I’m looking to hire someone local to help maintain a very small front and back yard in West Seattle. The job would include mowing and edging about twice a month throughout the season.

Additionally, depending on pricing, I’d like to have some bushes and pampas grass in the front yard trimmed as a one-time project.

I’m hoping to find someone dependable who takes pride in their work. I recently parted ways with a previous service after some disappointing visits at the end of last season, where the level of care didn’t match the cost.

If you’re local (or know someone who is) and interested in steady, straightforward yard work, I’d love to connect and support someone in the community.

Please feel free to message me with your rates, availability, and optionally, any references or examples of your work.

    Thanks so much!

    Hey neighbors,
Unfortunately, a couple of my bonsai went missing from our yard, likely in the very early morning, last Friday (4/03). These were very special and sentimental to me, and it’s a big loss.
I accept that I will likely never see them again, but wanted to post this in the hopes that if anyone sees them or hears of them, to please let me know. I’m sad that they will likely not receive the proper care they need and may die unnecessarily. They meant a lot to me and any help here would be appreciated.

You’re definitely looking at both sides of the problem, which is good.

From what I’ve seen, basement issues like this usually start outside with drainage (downspouts, grading, yard slope), but once water gets in, it can quickly turn into a bigger water damage problem behind walls and flooring.

I’ve come across similar situations where people focused only on French drains but didn’t fully deal with the moisture already inside — that’s when mold and hidden damage start developing.

In cases like this, it really helps to understand how water damage Las Vegas situations are handled, especially when it comes to proper drying, cleanup, and preventing it from happening again.

I’d fix the source first, then look at drainage solutions to keep water away long term.

I moved here from CO, too, and I finally bought some new weather appropriate gear. I went to Cycle Gear but, alas, none of their regular manufacturers had ‘long’ for arms.

I ended up ordering a First Gear jacket and Alpinestar pants from Revzilla or JP Cycle.

While having a delightful meal at La Chingona this week, Sandra, the owner shared that they are being mercilessly harassed by the new owner of their building who is trying to evict them.

They are engaged in a legal battle with this landlord, who took ownership without negotiating the existing long term leases. He already removed their festive patio.

I asked what we could do to be of support, and she answered that dining at their restaurant as often as we could with be a big help.

So I am putting it out to the you, the West Seattle Community to please go support this lovely eatery and its dynamic, kind staff!!! This establishment is a treasure.

Your physical requirements are a bit strange. You will have to adjust those due to ADA requirements should the teacher need that. What if the teacher is in a wheelchair, crutches from an injury, or pregnant? They don’t have to sit on the floor to teach. At the end of all those physical requirements you say you are Neighborhood House does not exclude, deny benefits to, or otherwise discriminate on the basis of race, age, sex, color, creed, religion, caste, disability, national origin, marital status, mental or physical ability including HIV status, height, weight, veteran status, military obligations, sexual orientation and expression of gender identity, or any other classification protected by law.

Looking for someone who loves to run and loves to talk about running. You don’t need anything but a passion for the sport, we will teach you everything else. A retail background would be great, but it isn’t necessary. Your job will be to sell shoes and apparel, stock shelves, help with sports bra fittings, keep the store clean, and help customers find the right product. Be able to start and hold a conversation, as that is basic skill for sales. Shy, wall flower types will probably not like the atmosphere, as we require you to start and maintain customer interactions.
We are looking for a full time person 30-40 hours a week, this position may include one weekend day. These are long term positions, at least 12 months or longer, as it takes a while to get trained and able to be help customers independently. Pay starts at $21.30 but is negotiable based on experience. We also offer bonuses based on store sales. PTO accumulation starts the day you start. We also have an employee discount, and a separate family discount. Free race entries for all races we sponsor, and it’s a pretty cool atmosphere to work in, as most customers are happy to be here.

Please drop off a resume in person at the store. We do not respond to emailed resumes unless we have directed you to send it.

The interview will be done during a 3 mile run, so if you get called back, be ready to tell us your favorite 3 mile route! Don’t worry about pace, we will keep it slow (11-12 minute miles) so we can chat.

If you have questions, please drop in and ask them.

I lived there in the early 2000’s and there was a serious mold and moisture problem that eventually forced me to leave. I had to get moisture wickers in closets, and I had trouble breathing. Their answer was to paint antimicrobial paint over the problematic spots. It did not work. Good Luck.
