The free, self-guided tour is presented by Vashon Island Visual Artists and features 36 studios and galleries. It represents more than 120 artists and craftspeople, many of them demoing their art. The organization’s website offers an interactive online map with details about each studio and gallery. You can also search by artist and medium. Tour locations are spread throughout the island community, from the town center to outlying farms and shores, providing an escape for urban visitors and giving locals the chance to discover tucked-away corners of the island.

The center is designed to enhance each visitor’s experience, from our knowledgeable tour docents to our large interactive map that lets you explore the tour’s locations. The center offers tour brochures, public restrooms, and a mobile phone charging station. The center’s gallery presents the work of four Island artists, including paintings, leather, jewelry, felted pieces, ceramics, and pet portraits. VIVA will hold a First Friday kick-off party for the tour at the Tour Center, May 1, from 5-8 pm, and include a gathering of artists from around the tour.

Something whimsical is about to pop up around West Seattle. You just might stumble across it.
Potterings is once again joining the global art phenomenon Game of Shrooms with a playful, community-powered twist. 25 one-of-a-kind ceramic mushrooms, handcrafted by Potterings co-op members, will be hidden throughout the neighborhood and waiting to be discovered and taken home.
Part treasure hunt, part art drop, and all about joy, Game of Shrooms invites artists around the world to hide mushroom-themed creations in public places, then share clues online for adventurous finders. No tickets, no cost. Just curiosity and a little luck.
“We love the idea of art surprising people in their everyday lives,” said the Potterings team. “These mushrooms are made with care, personality, and a bit of mischief. Finding one should feel like a tiny moment of magic.”

If you find one, it is yours to keep, tag Potterings with your find and be sure to email us when you find your ‘fun’gus treasure
Please take only one so more people can join the fun.This is more than hiding art. It is about sharing it. Each mushroom represents a different artist from the Potterings co-op, turning the streets, parks, and corners of West Seattle into a living gallery for a day.
It is a reminder that art does not have to live on a shelf or behind glass. Sometimes, it is tucked behind a tree, waiting to be found.
