How many eighth grade students can say they’ve danced with a Broadway performer and a former Rockette? That’s the case for 27 lucky teens at Our Lady of Guadalupe School in High Point, West Seattle.

In preparation for their annual eighth grade musical, teachers Allie Savio and J.C. Santos have enlisted the talent of Nikki Womac, who has performed in Broadway productions and national tours across the country, as well as on The Today Show and The American Music Awards, among several other live TV appearances. She’s also a parent of a third grader at Our Lady of
Guadalupe School.

Womac brings her experience as a Broadway performer on Disney’s “The Lion King” to the class of 2017’s own performance of “The Lion King (Kids).” Womac has spent the last several weeks choreographing the show, teaching the students everything from stage dancing to tap.

“It is so exciting to share my love of the show with this enthusiastic, hard-working and talented
group of students,” Womac says.

Emily, an 8 th grader and aspiring actress who is currently in the Seattle Opera’s production of “The Magic Flute,” takes great joy in working with the theatre veteran.

“She knows our potential and doesn't accept anything but our best effort,” Emily says. “Not only does she have high standards, she is encouraging and supportive of us.”

The production takes place at The Walmesley [WALMS-lee] Center on Our Lady of Guadalupe’s campus on Tuesday, May 16 at 7 p.m.

My family and I saw this performance and it was fabulous!  What a gift the OLG 8th grade class gives each year to the community and school  by sharing their talent and enthusiasm on stage.   How exciting to have a Broadway professional helping our young people see what they can accomplish, and sharing talents that perhaps not even they knew they possessed.  Hats off to everyone involved in putting on the show.  A real gem for our West Seattle Community!
