Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) is not actually a theory rather it is a currency analysis of the Federal Reserve accounting system. Stephanie Kelton, the leading thinker and most visible public advocate of MMT, dramatically changes our understanding of how we can best deal with crucial issues ranging from poverty and inequality to creating jobs, expanding health care coverage, fighting climate change, and building resilient, climate supporting infrastructure. With its important new ways of understanding money, taxes, and the critical role of deficit spending, MMT redefines how to responsibly use our resources so that we can maximize our potential as a society.

In this engaging presentation, Vandana Whitney will explain the basics of MMT and Randy Mandell will talk about the implications for funding Medicare for All, a federal jobs guarantee and the Green New Deal.

(Stephanie Kelton served as Chief Economist on the U.S. Senate Budget Committee for the Democratic staff in 2015. Her new book, “The Deficit Myth”, is a New York Times Bestseller.)

Presentation is Monday, April 5, 7-9pm. Zoom link: bit.ly/34th-36th-MMT
Senator Joe Nguyen will introduce the presenters.
Brought to you by the 34th District Democrats
