Carmona Flamenco and FlamencoArts NW will be presenting an “Introduction to Flamenco Dance” workshop, taught by maestra Rubin Carmona, at the new West Seattle Performing Arts Studio (WSB sponsor). This workshop will be accompanied by maestro Marcos Carmona on guitar.

The Carmonas have been professional flamenco dancer, singer, guitarist and teachers for 45 years, both in the United States and Spain (see fanw.org).

Maestra Carmona will present an introduction to basic flamenco foot patterns, upper body movement, and rhymic hand clapping (palmas). She will also demo some of the components of the dance such as scarfs and shawls. She will also teach a short choreography. Shoes with a low heel or character shoes will be helpful but not necessary.
