ARRL Field Day is the most popular amateur radio event held annually in the US and Canada. On the fourth weekend of June, more than 35,000 radio amateurs gather with their clubs, groups or simply with friends to operate from remote locations. Operations include HF SSB phone and CW; VHF-UHF; digital; a GOTA station (Get On The Air) to allow non-licensed visitors to transmit. This year, the Seattle Hubs will join them to host a mini Urban Survival Skills Fair, where we will provide information and training to get you better prepared for disasters.

The Seattle Field Day is jointly sponsored by the Puget Sound Repeater Group (PSRG), the Seattle Auxiliary Communication Service (ACS) and the West Seattle Amateur Radio Club (WSARC).

Schedule:

The Mini Urban Survival Skills Fair is 11 am-3 pm. Otherwise:

9am area 1 Ham Radio 101 (what is amateur radio)
9am area 2 how to build an antenna (demo on how to build antennas)

10am area 1 GoBag discussion (demo about what a gobag is an what are some items that are typically in them for emergency purposes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bug-out_bag)
10am area 2 Fox Hunting (using radios to hunt for radio beacons)

11am area 1 Portable Ham Radio Setup (demo of a portable radio which typically has more power than a hand held radio)
11am area 2 Solar Rover / solar power discussion (discussion about solar power setup for emergency purposes)

12pm Lunch Break

2pm area 1 Ham Radio 101 for kids (amateur radio talk for young adults by their peers)

3pm area 1 HamWan Demo (high speed amateur radio data network for email and web https://hamwan.org )

4pm area 1 Winlink Demo (Sending email messages over the radio https://winlink.org)

5pm area 1 DMR Radio (Digital Mobile Radio https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_mobile_radio)

6pm Cookout with trivia provided by Phil Tavel

Saturday 11am till 11am Sunday we will be running various radio stations attempting to contact other amateur radio operators in the area, across the US and potentally further.

Additionally the Red Cross, Western Washington Medical Services Team, King County Search And Rescue, Seattle Emergency Hubs, Elmer Tent, Office Of Emergency Management
