Sharing the Bounty: a harvest dinner benefiting Eat for Equity

This event on Sunday August 11th, will be hosted by West Seattle’s Chaco Canyon from 7 pm–10 pm. Chef Michael Verner from Wallingford’s Sutra Kitchen will be artfully designing an elegant menu expressing the joy of a successful harvest. To purchase tickets, call 206 937 8732 or stop by Chaco Canyon. This event is a smaller, more intimate event than our usual affairs and will sell out quickly. The cost is $40/plate. Chaco will be providing local beer and cider on tap, Stumptown coffee, and fresh squeezed juices from their juice bar and smoothies created from organic produce.

Eat for Equity Seattle is the newest branch of a nationwide non-profit committed to fostering and creating communities that give generously in support of the local non-profits that make each community a home. How we do this is by throwing large-scale dinner parties and charge a sliding scale price/plate. The dinner guests nominate organizations in Seattle they find worthy of supporting, and the organizers and volunteers cook the meal, source the ingredients from local producers, and create beautiful shared-dining experiences bi-monthly.

We established Seattle’s branch in November and have since thrown five successful dinners benefiting Seattle Youth Garden Works, The Equitable Food Initiative, Lifelong AIDS Alliance, Queer Youth Space, and the Pomegranate Center. We have also created successful partnerships with City Fruit, the Community Orchard of West Seattle, BB Ranch Butcher, Bluebird Grains, Whole Foods, and the Central Coop. This upcoming event is in support of Eat for Equity Seattle! Our goal is to raise enough money to invest in some quality and much-needed kitchen gear so that we can continue throwing bountiful and beneficial dinners for the Seattle community.
