2025 West Seattle Quilters’ Showcase

Have you marveled at the monthly quilt display behind the reception desk at the Center for Active Living? If you thought those quilts were spectacular, wait until you see the Quilters’ Showcase!

The quilters who supply the reception desk display are mounting an exhibition of their work. Over 50 quilts will be on display on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the Center for Active Living from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Admission is free.

You’ll see a wide variety of styles and subjects. Quilts with traditional blocks appear as do modern landscapes and portraits. Materials vary from the usual cottons to hand-embroidered wools. After saving her family’s discarded blue jeans, one quilter stitched them into a heavy quilt. Another quilter condensed his pre-retirement tie collection into a commemorative quilt!

The group of about 30 quilters meets twice a month, but they’re active all the time. They sew for themselves but occasionally collaborate, as seen in the “Picasso” series. West Seattle Quilters also make hundreds of quilts to donate to worthy causes, some of which will be on display at the Showcase.

West Seattle Quilters meet twice a month on the first and third Mondays at the Center for Active Living. Social time starts at 6:00 pm, meeting starts at 6:30 pm. Quilters of all ages, abilities, and quilting styles are welcome.
