King 5 just covered West Seattle. Apparently we could get hit the hardest – again. 35th is plowed, but still is pretty messy.

Over here on Beach DR & 48th, the snow hasn’t stopped coming down. Tried leaving , but ended up going around the block due to the hills not being plowed down Lincoln & 48th.
Does anyone know if the buses are running? Are they on time?

Three attempts to drive to the top of our street. Three slides backwards. This is near 35th and 106th. Snow still falling here and looks like another day at home.

If anyone knows if the 120 is running it’s normal route, please post! We live at Delridge and Thistle and are not sure if we can make it out our slippery alley….anyone else live around us?

Does anyone know how the bridge is?

  • Andi January 16, 2007 (8:39 am)

Up here on Admiral the busses are running and so are the snow plows.

  • Dave January 16, 2007 (8:44 am)

The blogger’s WS cams links (near top of page) will give you a good idea of the bridge condition. I skipped the bridge and went below – West Marginal Way south, which was covered with snow but not too slick at 7:40 a.m. – but the bridge probably would have been faster.

News reports say that the buses are – surprise – behind schedule. There were buses heading north on Delridge, which would have been the 120 and 125.

Metro’s website seems overwhelmed. You can also try:

My wife caught a 21 and it appears that the 54 is running as well. The snow just stopped so hopefully things will get better.

Thanks Dave! My work is on a 2-hour delay, so hopefully things will et a little better by then.

Anyone know the status of the metrobus that jack-knifed on 35th this morn at 7ish? I’m hoping that everyone involved was fine. Enjoy, folks! It is what it is. Be safe, hit the hot cocoa hard and go for a walk!

  • Schulz January 16, 2007 (9:10 am)

Read on the metro website that the 54 bus is 16 minutes behind schedule as of 855am this morning.

At least the snow has stopped.

The 6:29am 55 was on time, and took it easy but got us there! Cheers to Metro!
I heard later reports from co-workers that cars were sideways on the high bridge & blocking.
    Good luck to all!

I didn’t even try to get out today. Our apt. complex remains a sheet of ice, and with snow on top of it, I figure that hill is a death trap right about now. We asked at the office about not salting, and they tell us they ordered salt in advance, but the City allegedly intercepted the salt orders from the store and they could get none and have no idea when they might. Today is my last paid day off that I’ve accrued, so I guess I’m looking at being docked if I can’t get out. So frustrating.

Sue – what party of W. Seattle are you in?

  • Sue January 16, 2007 (10:12 am)

Anna, I’m in the Westwood section and live on Delridge. But I’m 1/4 mile off Delridge at the back of an apartment complex, up a hill. I’m sure if I could *get* to Delridge, that it would be okay (all things considered) and I could get the 120 to work. It’s the getting *to* Delridge that has been the problem. Since this is a private road in the complex, the City isn’t going to do anything about it.

We had to go downtown early this morning. It was a little dicey but the low bridge was fine–well sanded. We took Beach Drive to Alki Ave and then along east Marginal. Definitely slippery but do-able at a reasonably slow pace in a Subaru.

I DID try to go to work around 10:30 AM – and got my car stuck about 5 blocks from Delridge on a back road. I was able to move it (with the help of a neighbor) to the side of the road, and came back later at 2pm to check on it. After a few tries, I was able to make it up the back road to Thistle, and parked the car off Thistle & Delridge so that I can make it in to work this evening. It’s definately thawing out folks!!

Sorry, comment time is over.
