If you spent the day in your garden, this one’s for you

Finally, an excuse to show a photo of our favorite flower … currently at its peak bloom … the tequila-sunrise orange/pink Darwin’s Barberry, seen above as hedging on the east side of Don Armeni, and used in a similar manner at the Fauntleroy Creek fish-ladder overlook across from the ferry terminal. The excuse is that we have garden news: The West Seattle Garden Tour is just a few months away and its committee would really dig ::ducking:: some help — read on:

From Garden Tour president Clay Swidler:

Are you interested in becoming part of the West Seattle Garden Tour Community?

Come Join the West Seattle Garden Tour Committee

What We Do
The West Seattle Garden Tour membership committee meets once a month to review the steady, building progress of the tour, which is slated this year for the last week of July, 2008. This year’s tour is comprised of 9 gardens, carefully chosen during the months of August-October of 2007 by our talented Garden Selection Committee. We meet monthly, at an appointed member’s home at 6:30pm on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. We also engage in a pot-luck feast at each meeting, followed by the business of moving the garden tour forward.

Here are just a few of the committee opportunities available this year for those new members interested in joining:

* Garden Selection committee
* Volunteer committee
* Sponsorship committee (comprised of 5 subcommittees).
* Beneficiary committee
* Public Relations committee
* Graphic Design committee

BTW: You don’t need to be a Master Gardener to join!

Please contact Clay Swidler at (206) 669-4653 for more information

The next meeting is May 14, 2008 @ 6:30 pm

    i wonder if this is the same blooming shrub i encountered while delivering flowers in the Windermere neighborhood today. i got to the destination, opened my delivery van and walked into heaven. the bushes i ran acrossed wafted the most pleasant aroma imagineable. that’s really saying something as i am always surrounded by excellent, fragrant flowers.

Sorry, comment time is over.
