Gatewood Elementary playground meeting: “Big toy” plan time

Perhaps an auspicious sign for the Gatewood Elementary School “Operation Imagination” playground-project progress — we saw that rainbow over the school’s east end as we arrived to check out the start of tonight’s meeting (previewed here Monday).

Parent volunteers and others gathered in the cafeteria, where their meeting began with a presentation of the plan for the “big toy” that will be the centerpiece of the play area:

That model hints at the type of structure that’s been chosen — an Evos “playsystem” (read more about them online), which is custom-configurable depending on the site. The next step is for features to be finalized for the Gatewood version and for the order to be placed. This is the latest major milestone in a playground project that’s been three years in the making; you can read more about it at the Gatewood website (WSB coverage, newest to oldest, is archived here).
