Be on the lookout – another “egg attack” report

Just a few days ago, we published a WSB Reader Report about a car hit with eggs, and 2 other people added in the comments that they’d seen or experienced something similar. We’re listening to the police/fire scanner as usual during late-night watch right now, and just heard police responding to another report of “those eggers,” this time at California and Fauntleroy. If you see anything going on, remember, call 911. Vandalism is a crime.

Since we have lived in WS, this happened once to our car, and then again about 6 months ago, our house was hit from the alley. We are in North Admiral. This may have already been talked about, but I’m new to the blog (which is great by the way!).

BEASTIE BOYS – EGG MAN LYRICS

I looked out the window and seen his bald head
I ran to the fridge and pulled out an egg
Scoped him with my scopes he had no hair
Launched that shot and he was caught out there
    Saw the convertible driving by
Loaded up the slingshot and let one fly
He went for his to find he didn’t have one
Put him in check correct with my egg gun
The egg a symbol of life
Go inside your house and bust out your wife
Pulled out the jammy he thought it was a joke
The trigger I pulled his face the yoke
Reached in his pocket took all his cash
Left my man standing with an egg moustache
Suckers they come a dime a dozen
And when I say dozen you know what I’m talking about boyee

Yeh, that’s right, I’m the Egg Man
Driving Around, King of the town
Always got my windows rolled down
You know, I’m the Egg Man

**Sorry, all this egg talk reminds me of this Beastie’s classic** :)

Angie — north Admiral, you say—Hizzoner responding to WSBloggers?

We can all agree that vandalism is a crime, but is egging really vandalism? C’mon, it rinses off! If I see little kids drawing on the sidewalk with chalk, should I call 911?

    Goo goo g’joob.

My car got egged a few years back (along with most of the neighbors cars). All of the targets had paint chipped off by the impact of the egg.
    Yes, egging is vandalism.

Jeff — It doesn’t just rinse off — I was egged twice when I lived in North Admiral and at each hit point there is still a bullseye mark on my dark paint car.

It is indeed vandalism if it leaves permanent damage and devalues property.

I have to agree it’s vandalism….my truck was egged one halloween in college. Chipped the clear coat. :(

Our house got egged in November. We are northwest of the Morgan Junction. It wouldn’t have been that bad, except that the eggs broke through our screens and to the windows. It was gross and we had to replace the screens.

I’m not saying egging isn’t ever a crime, but I contend that it isn’t vandalism. I also don’t think it’s something to call 911 over, unless it scares the cr*p out of you. If egging is the threshold, shouldn’t we all be calling 911 for every instance of jay-walking or reckless or negligent driving I witness? Those are all crimes, no?
Full disclosure: I have called the non-emergency line over acts of vandalism I have witnessed. I let the police decide if it was an emergency or not.
And for the eggers: hopefully you get caught by the police and not by some irate neighbor.

When people throw eggs at me, I simply add some Bisquk and make pancakes.

WTF? Our house got egged last night! I called the non-emergency police number, just to add my address to the overall egg tally. The guy I spoke to said to get it washed off quickly, because the egg can damage your house paint, which I did not know. This happened once before, a couple years ago. I guess we have the kind of house that is just asking to be egged. And, we live near the PCC and Safeway, so ammunition is readily available.

Luckie, sorry to hear it happened to you guys. And what you found out, is exactly why it is vandalism. The damage that can be done if it’s not washed off. Among other reasons. Glad you called the police. We’ll ask them what’s up with all this, when we’re down at the precinct on Monday.

Sorry, comment time is over.
