If you haven’t already voted by mail, you can vote in person (probably for the last time) 7 am-8 pm today. Here are links to the King County Voters’ Pamphlet, with details on what you’re deciding as well as arguments for/against: ballot measures here, candidates here, “video voters’ guide” here. Since there are five City Council races and two city Charter Amendments on the ballot as well, the city has its own voters guide for you (find it here). Here are a few more West Seattle specifics regarding today’s election, including exactly what Proposition 1 promises WS:

The most hotly debated ballot measure is Sound Transit/RTID Proposition 1, which is only going before voters in King, Snohomish, and Pierce Counties. You can check out supporters’ site here, opponents’ site here. If you have already looked closely at the Prop 1 literature, you know its West Seattle-specific proposals are few — including a promise to “study” extending light rail out our way — this clickable map from the pro-Prop 1 site shows you exactly what’s proposed and where.

While everything and everyone on the ballot has the potential to directly affect all of us, it should be noted two specific races are for positions that represent districts including West Seattle: School Board Position 6 — where Irene Stewart chose not to run again — Steve Sundquist (his site here) and Maria Ramirez (her site here) are vying for that job; and King County Council District 8, with Democratic incumbent Dow Constantine (his site here) in a rematch against Republican opponent John Potter (no site that we can find).
