Mayor’s son reportedly indicted

Tough month for Mayor Nickels. First he lost his father — now he has to deal with reports that his son has been indicted for alleged casino cheating. FRIDAY EARLY AM UPDATE: Citizen Rain (new local blog aggregator) has a link to Jake Nickels’ MySpace. (The cached version seems more interesting.)

Cheaters always get caught no matter what.

Chickens always come home to roost, and sometimes they are really big turkeys. Reminds me of Hizzonner.

Yes, I know cheating is wrong, but I really don’t feel bad at all when someone rips off a casino. The increase in large tribal casinos around here is troubling to me on many levels.

    Like father like son.

    Eric-

    Are small tribal casinos ok?
    How about large non-tribal casinos?
    Does alcoholism bother you?
    Road rage?
    Child abuse?
    Smoking?
    SUV’s?
    Tainted food?
    Condos/town houses?
Bicyclists that will not obey the rules of the road?

It really seems like such a petty thing to worry about.

    “Like father like son,” flipjack?
I’m not a Greg fan, but your flipant statement seems a little uninformed. Are you saying that the mayor has been ripping off casinos?

Probably not, the Mayor has more of us to rip off, the entire City. And, he sure seems to be trying his hardest.

Thank God for elections. With any luck at all, he and most of the City Council, will be replaced shortly. Unless, of course, you like Townhouses, condos, and a transit plan that will not allow us to get from here to there.

Just wait until they start on the Viaduct alternative.

d: “the Mayor has more of us to rip off, the entire City.”
Come on! There’s a huge difference between what you’re referring to quoted above (whatever that is), and actual ‘cash register’ theft that his son is accused of.
The ‘like father, like son’ comment was really smarmy and, as I stated, flippant. That’s what I objected to.

Sorry, comment time is over.
