We told you 2 weeks ago that The Bohemian (3405 California, next to Spiro’s) was about to open; this afternoon, its proprietors opened the doors for a “friends and family” preview event (we stopped by for the photos you see above) – and say they’ll open, starting tomorrow, in two phases: This week, daytime coffee/tea operations; starting a week from tomorrow, they plan to add the food/bar operations. More info including hours can be found online. Opening day tomorrow, by the way, marks exactly a year since we brought you first word The Bohemian (at the former Leslie’s location) was in the works. (Next door, the future Prost West Seattle may open as soon as next month, according to a note recently shared by WSB’er Marco.)

so is the bohemian family friendly or 21+? Also, anyone know if Prost is 21+?

    Bohemian, all ages.
Prost, don’t know – past coverage here has included some descriptions from folks who are familiar with their other locations – we hope to be talking soon with the owner for a more comprehensive preview.

Prost next MONTH? No way, it’s still basically a pile of construction debris and sheetrock. There’s no electrical or plumbing in yet. I bet more like January or February at the soonest.

@Karen: Prost told me ‘hopefully early october’.

Funny bit from the Bohemian Website:
    Happy Hours – 3:30pm* – 6:00pm (Nightly)
(* Special hours for our under-paid,
    under-appreciated educators in our community!)

I just spent about an hour at the Bohemian, drinking tea, eating pastry, and filling out the roughly 800 pages of paperwork the schools sent home with my kids. It’s a pleasant place, and I’m happy it’s open in my neighborhood! The owner gave me a copy of the dinner menu, which will start next week, and I can’t wait to go try it.

Bernicki: Can you scan the dinner menu and send it to WSB for posting? The website doesn’t have the dinner menu, and that would really give us a flavor (OK, and a tease) for what they’ll be serving…Thanks.

    So,
How’s the food? The menu looks awesome! There was so much buzz and excitement about Shadowland and Springhill. . . . why not so much about our newest entrant onto the West Seattle restaurant scene?

I went to the Bohemian for dinner last night. Fabulous!!!! Very busy and they handled it very well. I wouldn’t recommend it for family dining. Great decor, wonderful food, good pricing, and very nice, fun staff.

West Seattle has become the “happenin'” place!

I was at the Bohemian for dinner last night, and I loved it. And I have to disagree with Dianne about family dining, we took our nineteenth month old and felt completely welcomed and comfortable. They have a kids menu (although it looked a bit heavy with the peanut butter), and we were encouraged to ask for anything our daughter might like that wasn’t on the kids menu. Without asking, they brought my daughter a small bowl of goldfish crackers to munch on before dinner arrived.

Our table of 6 had an appetizer, wine, entrees and desserts. While everything was interesting and delicious, the caramel creme brulee was amazing. A simple mache salad with grapes accompanied my pasta, and it burst with flavor. Glad to see it was crowded and lively.

The food is not for those watching their cholesterol. Decent wine @ good prices.

Sorry, comment time is over.
