Furry Faces Foundation is uniting with animal-lovers and animal welfare organizations from around the world to participate in a candle-lighting ceremony for the 3rd annual Remember Me Thursday®. The candles, which will be lit on the exact same day across the world, will honor the millions of pets who lost their lives without the benefit of a loving home. By uniting in this way, on one very special day, the worldwide awareness campaign shines a light on the millions of pets still awaiting adoption and encourages communities to opt to adopt and reduce the millions of orphan pets euthanized each year. Furry Faces Foundation invites our Greater West Seattle community to the Remember Me Thursday candle-lighting ceremony, Thursday, September 24th, 2015 at 7 pm, taking place at Hotwire Online Coffeehouse (WSB sponsor).

Be a part of the movement at this very special Remember Me Thursday® candle-lighting ceremony. We will start the evening at 6:00 pm for those that would like to come out to meet the rescue groups and add some glitter to their candles. We will also have some candles available for purchasing, glittering and lighting. At 7:00 pm we will gather for the lighting ceremony which will include opening remarks by a very special community member, a video, reading of the Remember Me Poem and then the lighting of the candles which will be placed on the hugely drawn word ‘Adopt’ so we can shine a light on all of the deserving, loving animals that need homes.

“Only 30% of pets in US households come from rescue facilities and animal welfare organizations. The rest come from pet stores, puppy mills, strays and non-reputable breeders,” says Teri Ensley, Furry Faces Foundation President. “Millions of beautiful orphan pets die every year without the benefit of a loving home, simply because the public is not aware of how truly amazing these animals are.”

“Our local and national rescue groups see so many wonderful pets that are simply abandoned because their owners had to move or didn’t understand the time and care that a pet requires,” says Linda Turner, Furry Faces Foundation Secretary. “These pets can be purebred, well-behaved, loving animals but they don’t get a second chance because there is so little awareness of the types of animals available at local rescue facilities. Together, we can educate people about these magnificent animals.”

Furry Faces Foundation is located in West Seattle.
