WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Gunfire investigation (updated with audio)

1 AM: Confirmed gunfire this past half-hour at 35th and Barton. A man told police someone shot at him while he was pumping gas at the 7-Eleven had a bullet hole in his car; police say he told them it likely came from the west, and officers report subsequently finding evidence on the southwest corner of the intersection.

11:40 AM: Above is a clip sent by nearby resident Aaron – nothing to see but a few seconds in, you can clearly hear the gunfire. We have a request out to SPD for report narrative and will add anything we receive.

We live right around the corner and heard it at 12:22AM. It sounded like rapid fire shots, in two bursts.

He is so lucky it didn’t hit him or anyone else but what would had happened if it hit one of the gas pumps, or is that just in the movies where it catches fire and blows up?

That is just the movies, yea.  Almost everything about guns, explosions, etc from movies is not realistic.

Some cameras at these high crime locations would likely be helpful to catch these criminals.

    UNACCEPTABLE!!!

What is wrong with people? firing guns is not OK. Police Dept should put out some reports about the number of casings found and locations.

Could have been anyone of us!  I agree that we need cameras to ID the criminals.  Make it a mandatory 2 year sentence if convicted of a crime while using a gun.  Stop the judges from releasing the repeat criminals back onto our streets.

There are already firearm enhancements for sentencing in Washington. Check out RCW 9.94A.533.

2 years? I’d be happy with a min of 2 years and 6 months for every bullet fired. And if that’s to extreme 5 year minimum.  And this would apply to minors as well.

Wow. What a night. I live next door and around the same time someone came into my side yard and used my bird feeder to punch a 4″ wide hole in my dining room window in an attempt to break into my unit. The dowel in my window stopped them.

How terrifying! Sounds like the attempt was not successful to gain entry but now there is a window to replace & worry if the idiot will return some time.   And oh my god – that sounds like rapid fire gunshots! I can’t count the gunshots they are so rapid….. Maybe the gun has one of those illegal contraptions that make it fire faster??? Seems like the police would be highly invested to find out who the shooter is and take away their weapon.
