UPDATE: Crash at 29th/Trenton

10:34 AM: Thanks to David for the photo. A three-vehicle crash at 29th SW and SW Trenton, west of Westwood Village, means you’ll want to avoid that area for a while. No major injuries reported but we’ll follow up with SFD, which did send an engine but cleared it relatively quickly.

11:15 AM: Police just told dispatch the intersection is temporarily closed in all directions for cleanup/tow.

11:32 AM: And they’ve just updated to say it’s all clear, open all ways.

12:22 PM: SFD tells us they treated a 58-year-old woman at the scene, not life-threatening injuries.

Traffic on Trenton is always going Fast – more than the former 35 mph limit.  Racing up the hill past the baseball field, and racing fast going East before the downhill decline.Bad multiple vehicle accident earlier this year at Trenton and 30th Ave SW. I’ve reported this intersection to FindIt-FixIt twice and Rob Saka because pine tree debris obscures those school crossing things in the intersection. After 2 years, SDOT recently redid the yellow paint on these raised structures – but did not remove the vegetation that obscures seeing these structures. (Grass dis even growing on top of this low structures).  Anyway… speed on past this intersection and Bammm! there’s your 3- vehicle accident at 29th. One of the 3 was probably S-bound on 29th, intending to cross or turn onto Trenton, and got smacked by a vehicle exceeding the 25mph speed limit on Trenton.More details wound be nice.

I live on Trenton between 32nd and 34th.  Can’t tell you how many accidents and near misses happen in this stretch leading to 35th and near misses of cars and people that happen with people making right turns from Trenton onto 35th.  People go too fast coming up that hill which you really can’t see the top of until you’re almost on it because of the incline.  They’re going to widen the parking spaces on SW Trenton but that’s not going to solve this problem.  We need ticketing cameras on Trenton.

Have to concur with prior poster:  Trenton is a speedway even after the easily avoided “bumps” were added. The school crossing might as well not exist for all some drivers ignore it at high speed.

Drivers are also apparently ignoring the law that requires license plates on their vehicle.

No plates, no problem! Also no parking tickets. If I were a wagering man I would put my bitcoins on the plate less minivan being the cause.

My mom was in an accident on Delridge and Trenton Labor Day weekend and still hasn’t been able to work. I agree that the vegetation is a problem. The garbage cans  near 26th also block drivers view of pedestrians waiting to cross. Especially people who are youth crossing or wheelchair users. Since this is a high traffic street would it be possible to add a four way stop at 29th and Trenton

Sorry, comment time is over.
