Just heard this near 34th and holly – bunch of racing car noises (not unusual) and then a loud screech and crash metal crunch. Hope everyone is okay!

I watched this happen in front of me. The silver sedan was passing us in the parking lane at a very high speed and then swerved into the traffic lane to avoid the parked truck, continued over into the turn lane to avoid other cars and kept going into oncoming traffic just enough to hit the black SUV. I watched both vehicles go airborne a little bit. I pulled over and called 911. I thought for sure someone was injured badly. I’m glad that wasn’t the case but very traumatizing for the SUV driver.

So they road diet I-35 and the number of crashes plummets on the southern stretch with the road diet, while the northern stretch Barton north still has four lanes. I wonder stats-wise if the southern road dieted stretch has a lower crash number than the non-dieted northern stretch? It would be interesting to see.

Not correct; the “road diet” (rechannelization) picked up much further north. This crash last night was on a section of 35th with one travel lane each way plus the center turn lane.

So glad everyone was ok also. Thank you drivers who saw it for pulling over and staying on the scene. Gray car driver left in cuffs in back of police car. Not sure what the reason was.  Seemed like he passed the field sobriety test. I’m shocked everyone was ok. So scary! Thank you WS community! Thanks Nicole!

Overheard SPD telling someone that the driver of the Subaru was under arrest for DUI and Vehicular Assault. Again, this was overheard but I did see someone in handcuffs being put into an SPD unit.

We were out for a walk approaching the corner of 37th and Willow when we saw the silver car speeding east down Willow in front of us, and within moments heard the crash. Surprising there weren’t serious injuries and glad there weren’t any pedestrians in the path of that car!

Sorry, comment time is over.
