Yesterday there was a 3-car police response to my house for a “Drive Slow Children Playing” sign. Nothing happened, just one of the neighborhood speeders beefing and calling the cops. I can’t make the meeting as I’m taking care of a toddler tonight, but I would be grateful if someone could bring that up that issue and ask how the police decide to prioritize such a sign vs say… the high volume of gang violence, reckless driving and speeding, the copper thieves burning the toxic plastic wrapping off of stolen romex wires in a huge green copper flame bonfire next to the bridge, constant rush hour red light runners at the crosswalk where Robb Mason was killed, or many other serious issues facing our community. But while this was all going on yesterday, the Southwest Precinct decided it was a good allocation of resources to tie up three vehicles and half a dozen officers looking at a sign on 18th Ave and not even doing anything about it. I bike commute daily and the trash fires to burn the coatings off of copper wires is giving me respiratory issues.

The precinct does not decide who it dispatches. The 911 dispatchers, who are part of an entirely different department, do. So that’s who your question would be for. I’ve never heard a dispatch “for a sign” but there was some traffic enforcement going on yesterday, just one car though; three would suggest there was some reason to require backup, like a threat, a weapon, or …

The police don’t make the decisions where signage goes. That would be SDOT. You are all over the board on a few issues,  are you ok ?

      Get a grip.

General note: Ann Davison has canceled for the police/community meeting. But if you have a City Attorney’s Office-related question, the SW Precinct liaison will be there.

No surprise there. As terrible as she is at her job, she’d only embarrass herself more by showing up and taking questions from the public.
