WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Another early-morning 7-Eleven holdup

For the second consecutive day, a West Seattle 7-Eleven has been hit by armed robbers. This time, it was the 7-Eleven on Erskine Way at the south end of The Junction. A short summary released by SPD say officers were dispatched there after a holdup-alarm notification at 5:16 am and confirmed with store staff that they’d just been robbed. According to the summary, the two robbers “entered the store, propping the door open with an object … walked about, making sure no other people were inside … then went behind the counter and one pointed a firearm at the clerk … (they) then took several items from behind the counter, mostly tobacco and vape products (and) fled on foot westbound.” Police found “some discarded items in the alley to the west” and suspect a getaway vehicle had been waiting there.” The summary does not include descriptions but archived audio from the response has officers describing the robbers as Black, male, wearing black face masks and black pants, one in a black hoodie, the other in a gray or white sweatshirt with flower print. The summary, meantime, adds that police believe the same robbers “most likely committed another robbery in Queen sector.” It doesn’t say if they’re suspected in the Friday morning Admiral 7-Eleven holdup; meantime, we’ve obtained the narrative for that one and updated the original Friday morning report.

  • Owner should just close the store to people May 31, 2025 (3:56 pm)

Have everyone stand outside to purchase anything and install barriers on the windows and glass to prevent smash and grabs.

NO! Why should all of us good humans have to change for the low life a pipes because they don’t want to work hard for their own money?and please don’t give us the stories of why they do this, NO MORE.

I’ve been in a few other countries and that is how they do overnight c stores.  If I owned one I would do it that way too.

Broken windows…We could actually just choose to not allow this stuff. Make it so that it’s a real gamble for these guys, there’s a good chance they’ll do serious prison time for armed robbery. Then you wouldn’t have the same kids holding up the same few stores every weekend for vapes. Sure it’ll still happen… but a lot less.

SPD needs to do a stakeout/sting of a couple of West Seattle convenience stores.

How many hours will we need to pay an officer in the off chance that they can catch a person? It’s not like these thieves were getting rich. Stealing vapes is small time stuff. The guns are concerning. But staking out every store seems like a huge expense.

I’m not sure the exact price tag, but I’m sure it’s cheaper than the dozens of uniformed officers deployed as security at the recent fascist rallies at Cal Anderson and City Hall. Plus the cops on stakeout duty would have a chance at actually arresting a criminal, instead of just generating another round of lawsuits against the city.

How do you propose we stop this sort of thing Tim?

Tim, I said stakeout a couple stores, not all.

    • Alki resident May 31, 2025 (5:16 pm)

Staking out stores just in case it happens, will never work that way.

You don’t even need to. Stake out one, or be on California Ave for close response, or just PUBLICIZE that you’re going to and criminals will probably avoid out of fear. I hope SPD reads this, I could come up with 16 solutions in 2 minutes while they just let the same few 7/11s get robbed for YEARS it’s insane.

So it’s Bruce’s fault for inheriting a police dept in shambles. They don’t have enough officers for that type of thing and it doesn’t work in most cases.

    • WSzombie May 31, 2025 (10:30 pm)

They won’t even do this for the shootings in High Point and Delridge, why would they do it for beer and vape thefts? Especially when this could be prevented by simply locking the doors.

If the judges would hold the people that are committing  these robberies, that would help slow them down from robbing more places. As it is, the catch and release has them laughing at being concerned about being caught.

Seems like a no brainer to simply close from 10pm-6am. Glad nobody was hurt.

    • AN May 31, 2025 (6:45 pm)

This is so silly. What will you say when the robbery happens at 8pm?

  • Recall Bruce Harrell May 31, 2025 (6:46 pm)

They’ll just rob them at 9:30pm. Then what? Close them at 8pm? At dusk? Closing Alki Beach earlier didn’t stop ANY crime, either.

    • Think May 31, 2025 (11:55 pm)

How many customers do you think a 7/11 on California has before 6am? I’d be shocked if the number is greater than 3.
