UPDATE: Crash on westbound West Seattle Bridge

5:30 PM: Big response for a crash on the westbound bridge near the 1st Ave exit. SFD is extricating one injured person from one of the vehicles. If you’re headed southbound from downtown, staying on I-5 and using the exit that’ll get you to the 1st Ave So. Bridge is a better choice.

5:37 PM: They’ve rescued the trapped person.

5:41 PM: SFD says the injured person is in stable condition and will be taken to a hospital.

6:30 PM: SDOT’s traffic center says the scene has cleared.

I just came through it. They are routing all west bound traffic off at the 1st Ave S exit, then everyone is going down and u turning to get back on at that same on-ramp from 1st Ave S onto the bridge. Saw them cutting the injured person out with jaws of life.

I saw the whole thing and she missed me by inches both flying to the left and the right after bouncing off another car.  I am glad she is alive.   Please please please slow down people.

Was she driving recklessly or was that because loss of control?

I am so glad to hear the person is stable. I drove past the smashed (and burned?) car and was so worried; I came here to see if there was news. My best wishes to the victim and their family for restored health.

I was below on 4th Ave. just going across the railroad tracks over to 1st.  I could hear Police & Firetrucks just did not know where they were.  Turned left at 1st and took the entrance up onto the bridge as we neared the top 40 feet back from my entrance I saw the two smashed cars with both lanes backed up to I-5.  Aid was there, it was then I knew where I was hearing all the sirens.

Sorry, comment time is over.
