WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Package-poaching suspect west of The Junction

9:16 AM: Texter called in – and radio exchanges confirm that police are looking for – a suspected package poacher in a gray Audi, last seen minutes ago a few blocks west of The Junction (49th/Hudson was mentioned most recently). Tipster says it’s a sedan, likely 2000s vintage, no plates, “driving recklessly.” No driver description so far. Call 911 if you see it.

10:16 AM: Texter has since described the driver as a Black man, “possibly 20s-40s, orange hooded construction jacket with white reflective stripes.”

Sorry this is happening, the package stealing but a 2000’s is a vintage? Considering my birth year (1955) well …let’s just say, no I won’t cuz I’m not ready yet! LOL!

A car’s vintage is its year. Hope that helps.

Maybe a coincidence, but yesterday around 9:30 AM a car matching that description sped southbound down 45th at Spokane. I was leaving Madison crossing 45th and made eye contact with the driver, who didn’t stop to let me cross. Driver was a white woman, probably in her 30s, phone in hand. No front plate but I didn’t check for a back plate.

I have heard a “gray Audi” mentioned a few times on the scanner previously. However, in this case the texter has, since we published what’s above, described the driver, not the same; I’m updating.

On Genesee Hill, just discovered a bunch of someone else’s mail stuffed into our box, with the Christmas cards ripped open. Will take it over to the house on the address later this afternoon. Seems the grinches are about.

AO, Genesee Hill has had a problem with mail lately.  A mail person dumped all their mail in the alley behind us on 50th & Alaska a few weeks ago and my neighbors who walk found it.  They called it in to the postal inspector who did find out it was a replacement carrier who just did not want to deliver all of that mail,.  I hope it gets better.

My partner was heading out for a walk this morning at 8:45 am, saw the same car between 50th & 51st and Edmunds.

I forgot to add when my partner saw the car there were two occupants in it.

I had a package stolen off my porch this morning. White male mid 40s heavy set wearing all black ran into the back seat of a black Audi with black tint on sw Andover and 41st today.

So many cars without license plates in Seattle. I have commented this before. WHY AREN’T POLICE STOPPING THEM!? Are they just staring at the car-computers?

    • WSB December 24, 2024 (12:58 pm)

They actually are. Spend a few hours listening to the police radio and check the call map, Muni Court records, etc. … However, with a maximum of 10 or so units in the Southwest Precinct at any given time, and most of them going from call to call, you’re not necessarily going to have a police car everywhere you see a plateless car ….

Sorry, comment time is over.
