From White Center Now: Another fried-chicken closure

Thanks for the tip! The White Center KFC and A&W location at 10050 16th SW has suddenly shuttered, and that big banner explains why. This is WC’s second fried-chicken closure in less than three weeks, after Bok a Bok. We’ll be adding details on our partner site White Center Now as we get them. (West Seattle’s KFC closed six years ago; Habit Burger is at that site now.)

I’m very curious what the future plan is for this site.  There was a time when this KFC was great, but that was many years ago.  It, as well as the one on 35th, went downhill years ago, with increasingly lower quality chicken (when they even had chicken), slow service, and a sketchy dining room (same problems on 35th).  Popeye’s would be a loss.  KFC…  meh.  Looking forward to what’s to come!

Nothing in the permit files as of yet, and the property has not changed ownership.

KFC was great in the 70’s and 80’s and turned to crap after that. Hard to believe they lasted this long.

The only down side to KFC closing, IMO, is that if it had happened a month or two earlier it might have motivated Bok a Bok to hang around. Perhaps that is wishful thinking, but …

I have fond memories of Dag’s at that location when I was a kid. The world’s first Taco Time is still in business across the street!

Thanks! I didn’t know Taco Time started in White Center. I haven’t thought of Dag’s in years!

The KFC was a Herfy’s. Dags was up the street where the Little Caesars pizza is now.

          Herfy’s, you’re right! I feel silly now.

First they came for the chickens,
    And I didn’t speak out—-
    Because I was chicken…

KFC for Habit was a nice trade at the 35th location.

We have been there a couple times and it really isn’t that good.

    Don’t let Ezell’s get away.

    Still got our Popeye’s!

I wish we had a Del Taco in that location, like the one they have in Federal Way. I used to live in Southern California and I like their food, tasty, fresh and cheap.

People who live in the White Center area don’t need another Mexican fast food restaurant or anything having to do with Mexican food because there’s enough Mexican places to eat in the area already. There’s even a lady selling food out of a cooler on the sidewalk in front of the Mexican store by Subway.

She has some of the best tacos in wc 3 for 5$

YES BETO! DT would be AWESOME… Chicken soft tacos and, of course, the occasional Bacon Double Del.

For the first time in probably 30 years, I got some KFC chicken back in May. It wasn’t at this location but I presume they’re all the same. It was really quite horrible. The pieces were small and had very little chicken taste at all. Perhaps its extreme saltiness from all the MSG was too overwhelming. In fact, I couldn’t taste anything except the salt.
I wondered if it was just a one-off since it had been so long since my last time but, apparently, the “mix” they use at all the stores changed some time ago and many people besides myself now find that it’s not something to buy anymore.

      1) MSG is not salty. 2) Your taste buds diminish in sensitivity as you age.

      • Pete August 28, 2024 (8:49 am)

        1) incorrect 2) correct

    There is always Saars!

Totally! Hidden treasure. They kept the old pressure cookers from the Albertsons days. It’s SOOOOO good
