WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Gunfire investigation

4:58 PM: After multiple 911 calls reporting suspected gunfire in North Delridge, officers have just reported to dispatch that they’ve confirmed it, finding “a scene” at 25th/Juneau. No report of injuries so far.

5:01 PM: Police say they’ve found 19 casings of two different calibers so far and that a witness told them a “group of four” did the shooting.

5:35 PM: Police were wrapping up when we got to the scene a short time ago but did point out what you see in our photo above: a bullet hole in the windshield of a Range Rover parked on Juneau outside the Longfellow Creek Apartments.

I was up near Pathfinder and heard two bursts of 9 bangs/pops, south of me. I should have called it in, but wasn’t sure it was gunfire. I should know better by now; will call in and report the next ones I hear.

I heard these same two bursts (9-10 rapid pops), but they came a bit north of us (we were on the trail in Puget Park, north of Dawson – did not have phone to call in). It was definitely gunfire, approx. around 4:40-4:50pm.

Will people ever understand that threat of incarceration has never stopped anyone from commiting a crime? Having more police isn’t gonna solve this either since they literally can’t be everywhere all the time. We need to nip the source in the bud, so this doesn’t happen. Not have more cleanup solutions.

The story mentions a witness. Unfortunately it’s pretty natural to dive down when you hear gunfire, not pop your head out the window.
