Five months after the Morgan Junction McDonald’s (6546 California SW) closed for an extensive remodel, readers have been asking for updates, since the site appears close to complete. Today we reached owner Alia Abboud by email. She confirms it’s “very close,” and added, “We are waiting for power to be connected via Seattle City Light. Once that is done, we will likely open two to three weeks later.”
Hopefull this will be a “real” McDonalds and not a sad shell of what used to be restaurant like the one in Burien on 1st. The Burien one has a dark/cramped entrance/ordering area, no people to order, have to use cramped kiosks which are FAR FAR slower to use than just telling someone what you want. That Burien one also have NOTHING in the dining room (no drink station for refills, no condiments/ketchup/napkins, anything. And since there ISN’T a regular person at the front there’s no one to ASK for anyone unless you can stand long enough to try to shout down one of the people running around the kitchen doing orders. It’s the worst restaurant experience (fast food) I’ve ever even. They can’t blame inflation or hiring, because 30 feet away is a Wendys which has a bright ordering area with a live person taking order, and drink and condiments are available to the customers. Night and day difference. I don’t even know why that sad McDonalds on 1st bothered reopening and not just stay a drive through.

Ugh, these new McDonald’s building designs are so ugly. The old building looked so much better…
