WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Stolen white work van with tools

Sent by a friend of the vehicle’s owner:

Greg had his work van stolen this afternoon (1/13/26) approximately 3:15 – 3:35 pm. It was parked at the south end of the lot, in Pro Parking, @ Home Depot on Delridge. He was in the store about 20 minutes, when he came out, it was gone.

The van is a 1997 White Ford Econoline E-250 cargo van with black steel roof rack. WA license CBB1999.
To add insult to injury, all his tools were inside the rig too. He still does light construction and handyman-type work so this is a huge loss to him. They’re compiling a list of tools as well.

If anyone sees the van, please contact the police. You can reference Police report #26-012247.

Greg is a lifelong West Seattleite and active member in the community. Hopefully something turns up and he can recover some of his lost property.

Call 911 if you find it.

Gotta put a $20 tracker in any older vehicle that’s easier to steal. I have one in my old fiat.

Those old Fords (and probably other makes?) keys get worn down and smoothed out, as do the lock cylinders internals. So misc. old keys end up being able to open various originally non-matching old locks. I agree a tracker might help but if the keys are old and worn smooth that might be an indication to get new lock cylinders and keys as a precautionary measure.

Long time ago I chased away a would-be thief who was trying to open my dad’s Ford work truck. He ran off but dropped a keyring full of old smoothed out Ford keys. It was obvious what he was doing.

I commute to the East side in the mornings and passed a white van that looked abandoned off the shoulder of the I-5 to I-90 on-ramp (near the curve as it joins I-90 E).  I didn’t see this article until I got to work, unfortunately, but maybe somebody near can take a look.

Right by a homeless camp that has been around off and on, mostly on, for 20 + years. Probably just coincidence..

Sure, but I drive the route every weekday and today was the first appearance.  Thought it was worth mentioning.

Any officer that checks on this-or any other vehicle automatically runs the plate. If it is in the system as stolen they’ll know right away.

There was a similar looking van parked behind the boss (20th and Barton) yesterday afternoon around 3:50, with 3-4 sketchy-looking guys in and out of it. I was dashing off to an appointment so didn’t get a good look, and I don’t know if it is still there.

That’s amazing that it took place so close to a two-story police building. Wondering if the van was locked? I agree with the person who wrote in that you should have trackers on your vehicle vehicles.: everybody

Delridge. 20 years ago had my car broken into in an attempt to steal. Police came and took prints. Speaking to the investigating detective he said his personal car has been broken into in the downtown police garage-during the day. The other issue I ran into is that the prints came back to a known prolific car thief. Last known address was White Center. The only good prints they got were on the outside. Detective said prosecutor wouldn’t touch as there were no good prints pulled from the inside of the car.

This morning there was a white van parked on the SW Cloverdale overpass – I noticed from the onramp to 99, so not too close observation but there is a white van parked on the side of the road there. Might bear a look.

There is what looks to be an abandoned white cargo van parked on the wrong side of the street on Oregon right next to the bowling alley.  It’s been there for a few days now.

  • Owner January 17, 2026 (10:10 pm)

The cargo vans mentioned are not the one. So we are still looking. Thank you for your interest and effort.

Sorry, comment time is over.
