More trouble on the water: Sinking boat at Don Armeni

12:37 PM: Thanks to Brooke for sending the photo. Police have been dealing with that semi-submerged boat at Don Armeni Boat Ramp. We’re headed over to find out about the circumstances.

(Added: WSB photo)

1:10 PM: Police told us that someone left the boat tied up. They don’t know who owns it. It’ll be pulled out of the water and impounded.

Possible it was stolen or else abandoned by a derelict owner figuring “someone else” can clean up the mess.

Jokes aside, these boats can hold 50+ gallons of fuel and oil. Our poor Puget Sound.

It doesn’t state if any gas was in it.

I suspect the owner won’t want it back!

Noticed a bubble of something come up that left a greasy stain on the water. Also, it’s register in Idaho & the CG sticker hadn’t been renewed since 2004

Any oil in to the sound is a bad thing. That said, in an experiment way back in college, before the professor I had knew it was not the best idea, a capful of vegetable oil make a very large oil sheen on open water.  Luckily it was not petroleum based. Lesson learned in that environmental science class was it takes very little oil to look really bad when in reality it isn’t as devastating as it looks.  Again, all oil is bad but it looks way worse vs reality. Hopefully it is all cleaned up as needed!
