After the Texas massacre, some students around the country marched.
Some gathered in silence.
Knowledge of violence was already a part of their world, from lockdowns, from drills.
And some students expressed their feelings through art. What’s below is by a high-school student whose mom sent it to us, “to share”:
This sends chills in its tragic honesty. Toby English, thank you for your heart-wrenchingly powerful plea. I hope the truth of your message is heard in the halls of Congress, and they finally find the courage to take real action to stop this insanity. There should be no question as to which is more important — unfettered access to military style asault weapons, or the precious lives of innocents.
Toby, may you and all your classmates be safe, live well, and help make our world a much better place.

A powerful expression of the realities and emotions of these times….that might beneficially be shared with 50 State Legislatures and the Houses in DC…
Admirable and I am so happy our youth are speaking their minds. My question however, is how is our country a “prison”? I would advocate people try to change from within but what is stopping people from leaving? Probably much deeper than my feeble brain is able to comprehend!
Money. It costs so much money to leave the US, and if you didn’t win the birth lottery then chances are you won’t have enough to do it without running yourself ragged if at all.

Agree with you “wssz”. Thank you Toby, for your honest and telling piece of art. This should be sent to all of the members of the House of Representatives and Senate. It should be made into a poster and carried as we march and let our voices be heard. They will not listen until we stop the flow of $. For the sake of our children and every person in this country, we must be brave and courageous, in order to partake of our freedoms. We are trapped in a cycle of violence that is of our own making. Please, do not let this moment pass.

My only hope for the world is the strong youth movement happening. Working for climate change solutions, being anti-racists, speaking up on social issues. Isaiah 11:6 “The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them.”
The comments thus far ignore the GOP elephant in the room.No Democrat (other than perhaps DINOs Manchin and Sinema) needs convincing regarding this issue.The blame—past, present, and probably future—lies squarely with the intransigent, intractable, insane Republicans.
It’s not helpful to simplify what is actually a very complex issue into something black and white while blaming 50% of the country…it’s this kind of attitude that’s breaking this country apart at the seams on both sides of the aisle.
We need to go deeper, put (push if needed) all politics, divisions, media talking pts, and our own toxic selfishness aside. We live in a broken world that has known violence forever.. The only remedy is To know and love God and our neighbor, incl enemies, as God does… heal from the inside where we are all in pain, w help far above that truly knows into each of us. Each person is of infinite values,, created as a thought in God’s Plan, greater than all the gold and silver on this earth. Truth in the Gospels.. Psalm 139, Proverbs 3:5-6.
If guns are not well regulated by Fall 2022, students and teachers should refuse to go into school buildings.
I’m curious as to what you mean by well regulated, and how current laws fall short?
