WHALES: Orcas back in our area

If you’re interested in some Saturday whale-watching, Kersti Muul just sent word that transient orcas are reported to be in the area, emerging from Colvos Passage (which runs along the west side of Vashon Island) and headed toward Southworth. So you can try looking, with binoculars, from west-facing West Seattle. Let us know if you see them!

They are going behind Bainbridge and headed to Bremerton. Big whale watching boat following them.

Does anyone have a video of the orcas we saw from Bachmann Park Saturday night November 20?  Thx

Short video about our resident orcas:

One way to help our resident orcas is to become beach stewards, helping to pick up trash along beaches, either by joining a group clean up event, or just on our own while out walking.

If you walk your dog on the beach, maybe they could help too by wearing a doggo backpack and packing out the trash you find.

Another important thing we can all do to help reduce the toxin load on future orca mammas, is to reduce our use of plastics. Buy less plastic. Accept fewer plastic bags and utensils. Buy a set of bamboo utensils you can keep in your purse, or in your car, just a couple ideas.
