WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Bail set at $250,000 for child-molesting suspect

A 39-year-old Boulevard Park man is jailed tonight, bail set at $250,000, after being arrested for suspected child molesting and indecent exposure. Court documents say the man was arrested Sunday evening, about two hours after the two elementary-school-age victims told their parent about the incident. A Seattle Police investigator wrote in probable-cause documents that the children were at 8th SW and SW Roxbury, walking home from an unspecified nearby park/playground, when a man approached them and asked for “a hug.” They said no but he touched them both and then exposed himself. At that point, the report says, a person yelled from a car that was stopped at the intersection, telling the man to stop, and the children ran away. Both that witness and the children’s parent reported the incident to police, and the description led to the suspect’s arrest near 16th/Roxbury. The suspect, who is not yet charged, was convicted of indecent exposure almost three years ago following an incident in Top Hat.

Good on that driver for paying attention! So many people on their phones at stoplights, how fortunate for these kids that the driver intervened

Fast work by the police or sheriffs.  I hope the children will be OK.

They are lucky they were on the right side of the tracks and not in KC sheriff jurisdiction.

Actually, KCSO helped on this case – the report says deputies are the ones who subsequently spotted the suspect, though otherwise it was a Seattle Police case. If you listen to radio communication, they do share information quite frequently when something is near the city-limit line (we hear this on both SPD and KCSO frequencies).

So thankful for the judge that followed thru with bail on this child predator!! If possible, please let us know their name. Too many judges as of late are not holding criminals to account, and this one did. This judge could be worthy of re-election!

I’m glad they caught the guy.  Seattle needs stricter laws for crimes like this. I hope the kids are ok, and for the parents of those kids: please have your kids see a counselor.  PTSD from trauma can occur even if you think it’s mild.

TB. What would have been different if they were on the county side??

City Council we need more cops! Are you listening!

Would having additional officers prevent this from happening? I don’t see where a shortage of cops created any issues here.

More police funding or staffing does not necessarily equate with better law enforcement. It never ceases to amaze me that when it comes to law enforcement, critical reality-based fiscal  thinking that is applied to other agencies, magically disappears. No, not anti’cop, but have been around long enough to know that no taxpayer funded entity ever wants to take a haircut.

Sorry, comment time is over.
