PROGRESS REPORT: Lowman Beach tennis-court tearout

Thanks to Mike Munson for another photo of the work at Lowman Beach Park, removing the seawall and tennis court to restore a more-natural shoreline, as was done with the south side of the park long ago. The project’s been in the works for more than four years; work is expected to last until next spring.

P.S. A brief update will be part of the Morgan Community Association‘s quarterly meeting, online at 7 pm Wednesday.

Rip, some of the coolest courts I ever played on, even if they were totally dilapidated and structurally unsound.

I think this will be a very nice park once complete. I think removing more shore armoring is only a good thing.

So is the court not coming back? If not, then it would be a total loss to the whole tennis community of West Seattle. It was one of the coolest courts in Seattle despite its condition. Very sad.

We have covered that extensively. No, there will be no new tennis court. Parks says they might support a smaller sport court – like pickleball – but community fundraising would be required.

At the risk of repeating myself, there are some fine tennis courts just up the hill on Fauntleroy!

Sorry, comment time is over.
