CORONAVIRUS: No Saturday 2/13/2021 update

King County did not update its data dashboard today – no explanation, so we don’t know if it was because of the snow, or some other problem – so we’ll try again Sunday night, and will include the weekly West Seattle trend check if updated data is available.

The state data put out yesterday afternoon is clearly incomplete or weird, with numbers 90% lower across the whole state. The state site also says they will not report on President’s day, and will resume normal reporting on Tuesday. Maybe after their big push to have complex data analyses  done  for their state-wide, two-week phase adjustments, they need some time off?

It should be noted the DOH’s regular phase adjustment meeting was _ignored_ this week and Governor Inslee pushed the state ahead into phase 2 prematurely.  His announcement was Thursday, 2/11: https://www.governor.wa.gov/news-media/inslee-announces-five-regions-progress-phase-2  The DOH’s meeting was Friday 2/12.  Despite all of their work Governor Inslee has decided he is above the science, above the law, and above the recommendations of his own department of health.
