ALL WEEKEND: Help this young West Seattleite stop hunger

Five years ago, we told you about then-8-year-old Joseph Meats going door to door collecting donations for the West Seattle Food Bank. Now he’s a teenager and still working to stop hunger – and this weekend, you can help. His family sent the photo and word that he’s set up outside 9910 34th SW in Arbor Heights [map] collecting drop-off donations of food for people and pets. Here’s the list of what’s most needed:

I’m thinking about what the future holds for Joseph Marks.  He obviously has a vision of what he can accomplish that sets him apart.  He apparently sees himself as a person who can make a great difference to our community, and he acts on his beliefs.

Let’s hear about Joseph in another five years when he graduates from high school and sets the course for his life.  Very uplifting to read about this fellow.

Now it’s time to look over his list and help out.

Joey has not only done food drives for the West Seattle Food Bank for the last 5 years but he also volunteers at the food bank whenever his school life allows.  Joey should be an inspiration to anyone to know that you can make a difference if you put your mind to it and have the passion.  We’ll let you know what the totals were when Joey and his family bring all the food in tomorrow.  BTW, Joey’s parents also do a food drive at their Christmas party every year.  We love the Meats family.  Thank you so much.   Judi, Development Dir. at WSFB
