If you thought you heard gunshots…

…it was apparently fireworks. Police have been out looking around after multiple reports of possible gunfire in east West Seattle; texts we received speculated the location to be anywhere from West Marginal Way to Roxhill Park. According to radio communication, they didn’t find evidence of gunfire anywhere but they did find one person who saw fireworks, and they subsequently found fireworks debris at 27th/Elmgrove.

Good to know, wasn’t sure. Thanks

Another of many, many reasons why fireworks violations should be enforced.  If just a few of these offenders faced the penalties allowed by law (up to a year in jail and $5,000 in fines) this insanity would stop.  Cops have better things to do than investigate potential gunfire that turns out to be fireworks.  As we once again approach fireworks season, I hope everyone who is concerned contacts our elected officials and SPD to let them know that we, as citizens, want the law enforced.  If the police can’t or won’t enforce the law, the should be changed to allow citizens to provide photo/video evidence and file a criminal complaint.

Well said—I agree, 100%.Bad enough the law isn’t enforced on July 4th, but this outrageous disturbance of the peace takes place essentially year-round.

Thank you WSB.  This woke me up this morning and I thought it was fireworks.  No wonder it sounded so close.

Sorry, comment time is over.
