POWER OUTAGE: West Seattle YMCA expects to reopen Thursday morning

4:41 PM: A power outage is forcing the West Seattle YMCA (WSB sponsor) to close its Triangle location for the rest of the day, says executive director Shalimar Gonzales: “Due to an intermittent power outage, we are closing our West Seattle location for the rest of the evening. Our Fauntleroy facility will remain open normal hours today.”

8:57 PM: Update – “Our current power outage is impacting 5 properties including our West Seattle location due to a faulty cable. Seattle City Light will be working overnight to replace the cable and restore power to the area. We anticipate re-opening the West Seattle facility at 8 am on Thursday, November 15th.”

is it just the YMCA?  or the area?  there’s a huge event a block from there in couple hours

The outage map showed just one customer – the Y – when I published this. Currently it shows five customers – you can zoom in at http://www.seattle.gov/light/sysstat (I’ve added that link above as well)

Just curious what and where the huge event is, since I live not too far from there? I’m wondering if traffic is going to be worse than usual– just the general area if it’s something private.

I hope we haven’t missed something! There’s nothing “huge” on our event calendar for tonight at least in terms of turnout (the 34th District Democrats’ meeting in Fauntleroy, which often draws 100+, is the biggest thing we have listed). Lots of INTERESTING things but nothing huger than that at least turnout-wise. No “huge” venues in the area either – the Legion and VFW Halls are the only places nearby that could accommodate triple-digit turnout. – TR

Is the triangle location the main location near Starbucks or another location in ws. ? I’m a y member but not familiar with the triangle.

      36th/Snoqualmie.

sorry for the exaggerated “huge”; yes, our big event was at the VFW, and thankfully had power, about 200 people; it was fantastic, all over now (and no, not in your calendar)

Glad it went well. Definitely huger than the 34th meeting, which drew on the low side tonight, fewer than 40 voting members.

Sorry, comment time is over.
