TRAFFIC ALERT: 99/509 crash

12:31 PM: This is happening just east of West Seattle:

Initial report from Seattle Fire was that a van had overturned. One person is being taken to the hospital by medic unit and the medics’ radio report described the crash as one vehicle, high speed, hitting a tree.

12:51 PM: SFD texted the photo we added above and says the injured man is in stable condition.

It looks like the van went across the lanes and into the water retention pond, exactly right where those homeless people were camping until a few days ago.

Thanks City of Seattle for clearing these people out of their hazardous camping locations.

Over the decades, that has been one of my fears driving along right there (where that water is) being NO guardrail and just about two feet of roadway and fog line between lane and waters edge. Some mornings are slick, icy, frosty, or.. if someone else were to be speeding and crash others off the road into that tributary. (Not a pond, it comes off of The Duwamish River). 😬

Sorry, comment time is over.
