UPDATE: Wheelchair found, returned to owner

ORIGINAL REPORT, 10:16 PM FRIDAY: When Veronica saw this small wheelchair apparently abandoned in the Southwest Library area, near 34th SW and SW Henderson, she felt sure someone is looking for it – stolen? somehow lost or misplaced? If it’s yours, or if you think you know whose it might be, please contact her.

UPDATE, 10:51 AM SATURDAY: We’ve removed Veronica’s phone number because she’s returned the wheelchair to its owner, who saw the photo here. We know lots of people were working to help make sure there was a reunion – thank you all!

That appears to be a custom made chair. I hope someone finds the owner.

I believe I saw the wheelchair owner at the SW Library today around 1pm in the Children’s section. It was a female adult along with a young male wheelchair user. I took notice, since the wheelchair user was able to gingerly get out the wheelchair to look at some items on the bookshelves.

Maybe the librarians at the branch might recognize the wheelchair.

note: I’ve just emailed one of the Children’s librarian to share this post with her coworkers.

Okay, I am so embarrassed! Thank you to everyone who is looking out for my son’s wheelchair. We just showed him that his wheelchair is in the news!

I called Veronica and we have arranged to meet so we can get the wheelchair back. My son doesn’t use his chair at home, so we hadn’t even realized it was missing until seeing it here!

Interestingly, there was an adult-sized wheelchair just a half-block south of the library a week ago or so.

YAY!!! I work at the library and I saw it after closing and took a picture too! I knew whose it was, but couldn’t remember the name. Went through some facebook channels hoping to find the owner; so glad someone shared it with WSB! Good job all!
