BIZNOTE: New bar at the beach

The photo is courtesy of Pegasus Pizza (2770 Alki SW), which just added another component to its recent remodel – a bar. Last night was opening night, says Pegasus spokesperson Sean McVeigh, who adds that Pegasus’s owners “had a designer from California come up to design and build the bar and it turned out great!” Previous remodeling work included moving the restaurant entrance to its east end; what was its west end is now a property-management office.

I’ve been in recently. I miss the old space. This new design is about a third smaller and there is no where for a party to wait for a table except on the busy, half width (because of outside tables) sidewalk. It took us over 2 hours to get a pizza. Waiter was apologetic.

This isn’t their fault, nor was it their first choice. Alki Property Management is responsible for them losing this much space, changing their entrance, and being forced to lose both indoor and outdoor seating. No restaurant owner would ever CHOOSE to lose seats… That’s SO much lost revenue for them.

Alki Property Management is responsible for this.  Pegasus Pizza is a much loved anchor tenant in the area and they have really messed this up by being greedy and putting their new office on that corner.  They had just gotten settled into the relatively newly redesigned restaurant that had the nice bar and lots of available space.

I went into the new one the other day to grab a take out order, and I can say I would be unlikely to dine in here anymore.  Not only do they have less tables, but they have moved them impossibly close to each other to compensate for the lack of space.  It’s not a very nice dining experience anymore.  Shame on Alki Property Management.
