West Seattle Crime Watch: Car stolen with keepsake; rock vandalism

Two West Seattle Crime Watch reader reports:

CAR STOLEN WITH KEEPSAKE: From Nita near 35th/Thistle:

My Honda 1999 White Civic was stolen in front of my house sometime this morning, last seen last night around 11 p.m. License plate AWL3194. This car was a gift to my son from his Godfather. We have our dog tag hanging on the mirror; we just put our dog down a few weeks ago – very sentimental to my kids. Thank you.

If you see Nita’s son’s car, call 911.

ROCK-WIELDING VANDAL(S): The photo and report were sent this morning by Mark:

Just woke up to this at 34th & Barton …. appears as though someone just randomly walked by my car last night and smashed my windshield with a rock. Sweet.

Online report filed with police, Mark says (here’s how to file one).

Just saw something similar at 32nd and Barton (not my car, just drove past it).

While managing 10 acres in downtown had many meetings about not using river rock in the landscape because they are often used as weapons.  Remove bricks and large rocks around houses because they are used to break windows.  Just sayin.

Everything changed around here since the bus/transit center went it. The area is horrible.

My sons 1999 Acura integra was taken last Saturday – today it was recovered completely stripped- the only thing remaining was frame and seats. Stolen from Alaska junction area home and found on the 6000 block of 37th Abe sw.

Sorry to hear that, Angela. I think I heard something about that on the scanner this morning, though no mention of the make/model and I didn’t hear the location either – police mentioned a confirmed stolen car found but completely undrivable.

Angela, I’m very sorry to hear about the stolen/stripped car.  The same exact thing happened to my Acura Integra.   I love those cars –  in fact I bought another one after they found the “shell” of mine.

I’m writing to you b/c – the time has come for me to sell my very nice Acura Integra GSR.  (I’m a little over 40 now…)

Perhaps your son is interested in buying mine.  The car  has a LOJACK devise installed as well as a top-of-the-line two-way pager car alarm.   I’ve had no issues since.    Excellent condition.

I’m not sure how we connect through WSB, but I hope to find a good owner.

I found a large 8″+ rock in the street this morning on 34th near Trenton.  I drove up towards Thistle on and noticed a Prius with a broken back window. It looked like a rock went through it too.

I live on 34th and Trenton and  my neighbors saw a man around 4am prowling my car and house. He was white male about 6’1″ late 20s early 30s. Said he drove north on 34th on black truck kinda crummy looking but not total trashed, headlights off then turned around parked in front of our house and had flashlight looking around car and at front door. They said something spooked him he ran to car and headed south. They followed him to try get license plate but lost him.

Man these POS are out in full force. And just to let people know in the 32nd/34th area around Trenton and Barton, there are squatters in a foreclosed house on 32nd between Henderson and Barton. I’m getting the word out to neighbors to be vigilant

They used to hang horse thieves in the old days.  I’d like to see car thieves treated more seriously than just a slap on the wrist. When my wife’s car was stolen from in front of our house, the police officer  addmitted that there was little that could be done and to not expect any justice. When the stripped remains of her car was recovered,  there wasn’t even an attempt to look for fingerprints. Maybe it’s time to reduce budgeting for the vice squad and re-assign them to the stolen car detail.

Yes wsb- it is a shell and was on donut spare tires. Looks like it was pushed into the fence.

More happening in the 32nd/34th area between Trenton & Henderson: coincidence or not, on Tuesday night / Wednesday early morning, vandals broke out a neighbor’s car window and also put two dents in my son’s newish car with something like a hole punch, the kind of tool used by thieves to punch out car locks. Perhaps the same perpetrators as these other incidents. The upshot: keep your car doors locked, remove all valuables, reattach The Club nightly,  and keep your eyes out neighbors!

My Xterra also got ‘rocked’ a couple  of nights ago.  Small scrape on rear glass, and a large scrape on glass and dent on drivers side door. 32nd and Roxbury. No broken glass, I got lucky.

Sorry, comment time is over.
