SCOUTING FOR FOOD: Pickups on Saturday

The next door-to-door food drive is days away – here’s what’s ahead for “Scouting for Food” this Saturday:

If you live on SW 30th through SW 34th St. between SW Myrtle St. & SW Thistle St., Boy Scout Troop #284 (based at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church) would like you to know that for our Scouting for Food effort this year, we will be picking up donations for the West Seattle Food Bank this Saturday morning (the 19th).

If you would like to contribute, please leave your donations outside your front door by 8:00 AM. You may have received a door flyer from us last Sunday — or maybe not, since Sunday’s well-publicized wind storm started up shortly after our flyer distribution began, most likely removing a good number of said flyers from the attention of their intended recipients.

The most needed items are:
Canned meat
Canned beans
Peanut butter
Canned fruit
Canned vegetables
Spaghetti sauce
Breakfast cereal
Baby food/formula
Feminine products

Thank you in advance for helping those in need in our community!

Boy Scout Troop #284 parent

And the cub scouts from the same Pack distributed flyers on the other side of 35th, from  (approx) 37th Ave to 40th Ave, from Morgan to Myrtle.  I know some of the scouts put some of the flyers beneath door mats, but others might have blown away too!  The cub scouts will be picking up food too this coming Saturday.

I live on 46th Ave SW near Charlestown and got a flyer from BSA troop 282 for donating on Saturday also.

I like to donate corn or peas  for the vegetables for a difference in variety.

Great – if you’ve heard from other troops, certainly oblige them! If any that haven’t contacted us want to send info, we’d be happy to add it. – TR

I live near Charlestown too; got the flyer; put the food out by 8 a.m. on the 19th but the scouts missed the pickup. Tried emailing the troop from their web address but haven’t received a reply. Will leave the food out until Sat. the 26th in case they come by. I’m on 51st between Andover and Charlestown.

Pack 793 would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to the North Admiral community for their generous donations. Our scouts picked up and delivered to the West Seattle Food Bank 290 pounds of food!

    Thank you!

Sorry, comment time is over.
